Today we’d like to introduce you to Yana Bromberg.
Hi Yana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I graduated from Touro School of Health Sciences Physician Assistant program in NYC in 2016 and took my first job working at Staten Island University Hospital. It was important to me to start my career in a position that would allow me to apply what I have learned in real clinical practice and provide me with a well-rounded understanding of how to diagnose and treat real medical diseases.
During my maternity leave, I was presented with an opportunity to work with a local physician who was transitioning his medical practice into one that focused on wellness & anti-aging medicine. This is when my journey into aesthetic medicine began. There, I was trained in hormone replacement therapy, injectables, and lasers.
In 2018 I decided to pursue my dream of moving to Miami. Due to my experience, I was able to easily find a position working with a board-certified urologist who specialized in sexual medicine and hormone replacement therapy. I did not want to lose my knowledge of aesthetic medicine, so I continued to attend advanced trainings and practice outside of my 9-5 hours. In 2023, I decided to open up Yanasthetics, where I worked out of a small suite in Hollywood, FL. I was working non-stop. I had my full-time 9-5 position and would see my aesthetic clients after work and weekends. Besides my work, I was also a wife and mother to a toddler. This was really burning me out and I had to make a really difficult decision at the time: Do I continue working my steady 9-5 job or risk everything and put all my energy into my own business. I took the leap of faith.
I never rushed my success. I always kept my overhead low. I transitioned from office to office as my finances would allow it. I never invested in fancy lasers that I knew I could not afford. I focused on getting great at what I knew- injectables. I didnt know the first thing about entrepreneurship; being a medical provider was always my first priority.
I do not have a storefront office and majority of my patients are referral based. I like the private, intimate feel of my office space. My consultations are not rushed and I make sure to give each client undivided attention. My clients become my friends, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Just last week I upgraded to a slightly larger office space and I couldnt be more proud of myself. One thing I learned about being in this business is to never compare yourself to anyone else. I love what I have built and I’m so excited for the future of Yanasthetics. I used to think working 9-5 was tedious, but being an entrepreneur– its 24/7. But, I wouldnt have it any other way. I take everything day by day, never stop learning, and constantly count my blessings.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle for me was learning how to become an entrepreneur. Its easy to say you want to be your own boss, but its a whole different ballpark. There are so many aspects of running a business that I didnt know. I remember one of my entrepreneur friends asked me what my business plan was and I shrugged and laughed. “Whats a business plan?”
I didnt even know how to work Excel and now my entire business runs on spreadsheets. As a sole owner and provider, I worked every position possible. Im not just the Physician Assistant, I’m also the office cleaning lady, the receptionist, the website designer, the social media creator, the medical assistant, the bookkeeper, the accountant. I started with no employees and had to learn every single aspect on my own. This was challenging, but it was the best way for me to understand how to become a better business woman.
As you know, we’re big fans of Yanasthetics. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Yanasthetics is a medical boutique specializing in aesthetic medicine & wellness. Small, intimate setting, mostly referral based clientele. We do all types of injectables such as botox, fillers, biostimulators (Sculptra, Radiesse), polynucleotides, hair restoration, microneedling, chemical peels. We also offer wellness services with peptides and vitamins.
Everything I offer my patients, I have tried myself. Safety always comes first. I love helping people not just look good but feel great too. Its such a fulfilling career knowing I can help people feel more confident, more beautiful, more energetic, and improve their overall quality of life.
Being in this industry for almost ten years now I have seen many trends come and go, but one thing I stand by is making sure my work looks natural. I was never about the ducky lips and overfilled cheeks. I have no problem saying “no” to a client who wants a procedure that I do not think would benefit them. My style isn’t for everyone, and thats okay. But my clients know and understand that in many cases, less is more.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I definitely went through many phases. As a child I was fairly introverted and shy, although I always dreamt of being an actress. I’ll never forget going to an audition all by myself (8 years old at the time) at a local theater in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn and freezing up mid way thru the audition. I ran out of there and understood this was not my calling. I always excelled in school and some would even call me a nerd. I was frequently bullied in elementary school but graduated as the Salutatorian. Junior High School was even worse as I was never one of the “cool kids”. My parents had that strict Soviet mentality, so crop tops and belly button piercings were completely out of the question. As far as hobbies went, I played a little bit of tennis and did ballroom/latin dance but never took either one seriously enough to continue into adulthood.
High School was a much better time for me as I grew into young adult. I definitely became more of a social butterfly and found my voice. Despite the parties, the boys, the sneaking out of the house in the middle of the night, and all the fun things high school years offered, I continued to excel in my studies and knew I would always end up practicing medicine.
