Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanae Cooper- Robinson.
Hi Shanae, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started from humble beginnings (the bottom), endured pain , went through many adversities , setbacks but with resilience I am now walking in my purpose while helping others to discover theirs.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No journey in this life is ever a smooth one. From adversities to pain , I transitioned into my purpose . I grew up
in pain; I had a rough upbringing and many adversities. I had to beat the odds of poverty, economical , emotional deprivation, financial instabilities, a broken home with broken people, father marginalization, etc. But in the midst of those adversities, I discovered my purpose which led me to where I am today . People will see the glory and end product but do not know the story. Before I became a Global Women of Choice Awardee for Philanthropy, award-winning, best selling seven (7) time author, and an extraordinaire educator, I experienced my fair share of adversities. All of which mold me into what I have become.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an educator, author, speaker who wears many other hats that fit. I am a Generativity Strategist (someone who specializes in passing on knowledge and skills to other generations). I empower educators, youth and women to rise above their adversities, leave generational footprints and become their best possible selves. I spend most of my time empowering educators, youth through workshop, public speaking engagement and empowerment sessions. I am most proud of my recent accomplishment as an educator where I moved the school that I am currently teaching at grade four numeracy rate from 42% to 81 %. What sets me apart from others is my work ethics, zest for achieving excellence and my high level of resilience and self-motivation.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Most definitely, “No man is an island , no man stands alone.” On that premise finding a mentor on your apprentice journey will really help you to master your skills. I have networked with likeminded people and that has helped me to grow intellectually as an author , educator and speaker. What really worked best for me is joining supportive communities that either inform or educate me in meaningful ways . The Non-fiction Authors Association , The Mentor’s Association of Jamaica , Jamaica Teaching Council (JTC) Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) , The Global Women of Choice Community, The Author CEO Academy , just to name a few have contributed to my holistic growth as an author, speaker and educator.
