Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa.
Hi Melissa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My father started in the HVAC industry when I was a child. I grew up watching my dad work hard and provide a great life for us. When I moved out of my parent’s house at 21 years old after graduating from FIU, I quickly realized life in Miami was very expensive. So I decided to put my business degree to use working for my dad. I studied hard and got my mechanical contractor license. After working for my dad for 2.5 years I was able to retire him. I opened up Chill Zone AC and I’ve been flying solo since January 2023. Since joining the HVAC industry at 23 years old, I have gotten married and had two kids. I have managed to grow the business through all of the trials and tribulations and I am beyond grateful to my father and God for the opportunity.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The business has definitely had seasons of challenges and seasons of smooth sailing. My dad used to run everything by himself. Being a newlywed and a new mom while running a business is very challenging. It requires a lot of time management, tears, and sacrifice. I was working nearly 70-80 hours per week with my 3m old daughter at the office. When I finally hired a warehouse manager and bookkeeper, I finally started living a more balanced life.

We work with all major brands, but are very selective which is why we don’t carry any brand that doesn’t offer a good warranty.
What makes you happy?
Time off with my family in the great outdoors makes me happy because it is time well spent. Work wise what makes me happy is serving our customers who are grateful for our services that restore their happy cool homes.
