Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Medina.
Maria, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve known at a young age that interior design was what I wanted to pursue. The goal was always to build something of my own, especially through the influence of my grandfather running our family business. The question was just when the right time would come. After leaving a previous role and going through a period of transition and relocation, I decided to take a chance on myself and fully pursue what I was passionate about. That decision led to the creation of She’s All Interiors.
Like many entrepreneurial journeys, it hasn’t been linear. Early on, I found myself wearing multiple hats. Aside from designing I worked on managing projects, building relationships, and learning the business side of running a company. Those challenges forced me to grow, adapt, and lean on mentorship and relationships I had built along the way. Many of my early clients came from connections I had developed before launching my business, and those relationships helped shape its purpose.
Today, She’s All Interiors focuses on high-end residential and commercial design, staging, and rendering services, with a strong emphasis on elevating both lifestyle and real estate value. My purpose has evolved beyond aesthetics because I believe every design decision impacts how people live, perform, and experience their environment. I continue to pursue design, with an intention to provide education and mentorship, to help clients and newer designers better understand the realities of the industry, while encouraging growth within the community.
Where I am today is really the result of taking risks, finding the right communities, and staying committed during uncertain seasons.. I’m still building and learning while creating spaces that feel functional and safe with aesthetic appeal to accommodate to how my clients live.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been easy. One of the biggest challenges has been realizing that being a strong designer and running a design business require very different skill sets. I had to learn project management, client communication, and the operational side of the industry while continuing to grow creatively as a design professional.
Another challenge was managing expectations. Interior design is often seen as purely aesthetic, but it involves technical planning, coordination, and responsibility behind the scenes. Learning to define scope, set boundaries, and structure projects properly was a major turning point for me.
The journey has also required the loss of relationships that I once thought would grow alongside me. While difficult, it taught me to appreciate that those people served an important purpose in the growth of the business and in my own development. It taught me the importance of purpose, having shared values, and having a community who supports your long-term growth.
Like many others, there were moments of uncertainty, but those experiences pushed me to change my systems and become more intentional with the work I take on. She’s All Interiors is not just focused on aesthetics, but on creating environments that improve how we experience and live in a space.
We’ve been impressed with She’s All Interiors, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
She’s All Interiors is a full-service interior design studio focused on high-end residential and commercial spaces, as well as home staging and rendering services. While aesthetics are an important part of what we do, our work goes beyond making spaces look beautiful. We focus on creating intentional spaces that perform on how people live and work.
What sets us apart is our approach to design as both a creative and strategic process. Every decision is made with vision, goals, lifestyle, and values in mind. Many clients come to us not only for design direction, but for guidance on planning and vision clarity for their project.
I’m proud to have built something that reflects education and transparency within an industry that can often be misunderstood. A big part of our mission is helping clients understand the true scope of interior design and the impact thoughtful design can have on everyday life. She’s All Interiors has grown through relationships, trust, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The goal remains the same to create elevated spaces that feel personal and timeless.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I see risk taking as something that is required, non-negotiable. Risks have always meant choosing growth even when there isn’t complete certainty. One of the biggest risks I took was deciding to fully pursue interior design during a period of transition in my life. Leaving something that’s familiar to develop something of my own required a lot of trust in my long-term vision.
Another risk i needed to accept was having to evolve with the business. That included refining my services, stepping away from projects or roles that weren’t aligned with my vision, and being honest about where my strengths created the most value. Decisions aren’t always easy, especially in an industry that can be unpredictable, but they’ve been necessary.
I’ve learned that risk in business isn’t just about making big decisions, but also staying consistent through the process. Showing up, continuing to invest in personal skills, building relationships, and staying committed to the plan even when results aren’t instant.
I believe in taking calculated risks that move you closer to your goals. Every risk I’ve taken has ultimately helped shape me into a more focused person along with my business, and it’s taught me that growth usually happens just outside of what feels comfortable.
