Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Kisel.
Hi Alex, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into floristry has been shaped by both my professional background and my personal experiences. I spent several years working in the mental health field, where I developed a deep understanding of emotional well-being and the importance of human connection. That experience taught me how powerful beauty and environment can be in supporting people through different seasons of life.
Creativity has always been a natural part of who I am, and flowers became an outlet where I could fully express that. I founded Soul Bloom, my flower and design studio in Hollywood, Florida, not only to create modern floral designs, but to build something meaningful and community-driven.
Floristry, for me, is more than making something beautiful, it’s a form of art therapy. It allowed me to combine creativity, business, and my life experiences into something purposeful. Through wellness events, workshops, and collaborations, I’ve been able to connect with incredible women and build a supportive creative community. Soul Bloom is truly a reflection of that journey and my belief in the power of beauty, creativity, and connection.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. I moved to Florida a little over a year ago and started Soul Bloom with limited resources, while also trying to establish myself in a completely new environment. Building a business from the ground up without an existing network came with a lot of uncertainty. Floristry is also more demanding than people often realize, it involves long hours, physical work, and a deep sense of responsibility to create something meaningful for people’s most important moments.
One of the biggest challenges was learning to trust myself and stay committed to my vision, even when things felt uncertain. Those experiences taught me resilience, patience, and confidence, and ultimately shaped both me and my business. Looking back, the challenges were an essential part of the journey and made building Soul Bloom even more meaningful.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the founder of Soul Bloom, a flower and design studio in Hollywood, Florida, where I create modern floral designs for events, brands, and private clients. Soul Bloom is not just a traditional flower shop, but a creative space where I’m able to express my artistic vision and connect with incredible people. My work is inspired by natural movement, thoughtful color palettes, and a desire to create something that feels elevated and meaningful. I specialize in both everyday arrangements and larger installations, and I’m most proud of building something from the ground up that reflects who I am. What makes my work special to me is not only the designs themselves, but the relationships, collaborations, and community that have grown around it.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
People can work with me by reaching out for custom floral designs for their events, brands, or personal moments, and I’m always open to collaborations with creatives, wellness spaces, and local businesses. I truly love connecting with people and bringing their ideas to life through flowers. Soul Bloom has always been rooted in community, so supporting my work can be as simple as attending a workshop, collaborating on a creative project, or even sharing my work with someone who may connect with it. I’m incredibly grateful for every person who becomes part of this journey, and I’m always excited to meet and create alongside new people.
