Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominic Aloma.
Hi Dominic , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I decided to become a physical therapist after injuring my knee while playing football shortly before graduating high school. During my recovery, I developed a deep appreciation for the rehabilitation process and how it not only restored my function, but ultimately made me stronger than I was before the injury. That experience sparked my passion for physical therapy and set the foundation for my career.
I began working in outpatient physical therapy with a focus on sports and neurological injuries and later transitioned into home health, drawn by the flexibility it offered as my wife and I were starting our family. Over time, however, I became increasingly disenchanted with what I perceived as a lack of consistently high-quality, patient-centered care within some of the home health agencies I worked with. As an individual clinician, I felt limited in my ability to deliver the level of care I believed patients deserved.
That realization led me to open my own home health agency, with the goal of providing care rooted in clinical excellence, compassion, and individualized attention. As the company grew, so did our team, many of whom have been with me since the beginning and share the same commitment to quality and integrity.
After earning my Doctorate in Physical Therapy, I returned to school to obtain my Registered Nurse license. This decision allowed me to further enhance my clinical skill set, better serve our patients, and support our skilled nursing and therapy teams when needed—helping ensure continuity of care and minimize staffing gaps.
At the core of our company’s mission is the belief that patients should be treated as we would treat our own family. This philosophy was deeply influenced by my grandfather, Orlando Aloma, whom I loved and admired greatly and who remains one of my strongest inspirations to this day. I also see myself as an old soul with a great respect for past generations.
Today, I am proud that our agency has been recognized as one of America’s Best Home Health Agencies for 2026 by Newsweek, ranking #4 in the state of Florida. We have also achieved a five-star rating in both patient satisfaction and quality outcomes, at one point being the only agency in Broward County and I believe one of only eight in the state to hold that distinction.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. Like many healthcare organizations, we have faced challenges related to competition, particularly given the high volume of skilled home health agencies in the South Florida market. Unfortunately, our industry has also had to contend with instances of fraud, which can undermine trust and create additional regulatory and operational pressures for agencies committed to doing things the right way.
As we have grown, another ongoing challenge has been maintaining consistently high-quality care while effectively managing staffing and service demands. Scaling skilled services without compromising clinical standards requires careful planning, strong leadership, and a dedicated team. Additionally, reimbursement variability and authorization requirements across different insurance plans have added layers of complexity to both care delivery and operations.
Despite these challenges, we have remained focused on integrity, compliance, and patient-centered care, which continues to guide our decisions as we grow.
As you know, we’re big fans of United Care Home Health Services . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are an ACHC-accredited, Medicare-certified skilled home health agency proudly serving patients throughout Broward County, Florida. We provide comprehensive skilled services across the entire county, including Skilled Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Medical Social Work, and Home Health Aide services.
Our agency is healthcare-professional owned and operated, and we are deeply committed to delivering care with the highest standards of clinical excellence, compassion, and integrity. While we are honored by our five-star ratings for patient satisfaction and quality outcomes, as well as our recognition as one of America’s Best Home Health Agencies for 2026 by Newsweek—ranked #4 in the state of Florida, what truly defines us is how we care for our patients every day.
What sets us apart is the depth of experience and specialization within our clinical team. Our nursing staff brings extensive skill and expertise to complex patient needs, and many of our therapists are vestibular trained or certified, with additional competencies in lymphedema management, balance and fall prevention, neurological rehabilitation, and aquatic therapy when patients have access to a private or community pool. We are also proud to offer culturally and linguistically responsive care, with clinicians who speak English, Spanish, and Creole.
Most importantly, I am proud of our people. Many of our clinicians and staff have been with us for years and share a unified commitment to treating patients and their families with the same care and respect we would want for our own. Our awards and rankings are meaningful because they validate what we already strive for every day—providing exceptional, patient-centered care to our community.
How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck as much as I believe in preparation, honesty, ethical practice, and a dedication to the highest quality of care and clinical skill. Throughout my life and career, I have found that maintaining a positive mindset often leads to positive outcomes—but more importantly, people notice when you consistently practice what you preach and follow through on what you say.
In healthcare, patients, families, referral partners, and team members alike appreciate transparency, reliability, and integrity. While it may sound cliché, treating patients as if they were our own family—or our own parents—naturally elevates the level of care we provide and leads to better outcomes.
Rather than feeling lucky, I consider us fortunate and grateful that many referral sources recognize the quality, consistency, and results our agency delivers. That recognition is the result of sustained effort, extremely hard work and shared values, not chance.
As we celebrate our 19th anniversary this January of 2026, I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together. Our entire team shares the belief that family is the most important thing we have. For me personally, my family is my world, and that belief shapes how we care for every patient we serve. When we treat our patients with the same compassion, respect, kindness, skill and dedication we would give our own family, success naturally follows. That philosophy has guided us for 19 years—and it continues to guide us forward.
Thank you.
