Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal And Giselle.
Hi Krystal and Giselle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We took different paths into aesthetics, but both of us came from strong medical backgrounds that shaped how we practice today.
From early on, Giselle knew aesthetics was where she wanted to be. One of her first professional experiences was working for a well known surgeon, Dr. Leonard Roudner, which gave her early exposure to aesthetic medicine and confirmed that this was the field she wanted to pursue. She went on to nursing school, earning her RN and BSN, and worked across multiple hospital settings, including pediatrics. Those years strengthened her clinical judgment, reinforced the importance of patient safety, and shaped the way she cares for patients today. Along the way, she continued her education, earning a Master’s degree in Family Practice and completing certification in aesthetic procedures through the American Academy of Procedural Medicine (AAOPM), which provides hands on training in injectables and related techniques for medical professionals. She continues to invest in her education through conferences, mentorship, and hands on experience, with her work centered in aesthetic medicine.
Krystal’s journey began differently. She started her career as an LPN without a clear long term plan, but quickly discovered how much she loved nursing. That pushed her to continue her education, earning her RN and BSN, completing graduate school at the University of Miami, and becoming board certified in family practice. She worked in demanding clinical environments including the emergency room, outpatient surgery, and the ICU. Those years taught her how to stay calm under pressure, think critically, and always prioritize patient safety. Even then, she knew dermatology and aesthetics were where she wanted to end up. Breaking into the field was not easy, but she stayed persistent by attending conferences, shadowing reputable providers, and spending countless hours learning on her own. She later trained with Dr. Richardson at Natura Dermatology, gaining exposure to both medical and cosmetic dermatology, while also working in medical spa settings.
We had each planned to open our own practice. Through conversations, we realized how closely our goals aligned, from prioritizing safety and education to providing individualized, ethical care. Rather than building separately, we decided to build together. R&R Skin and Aesthetics was created from that shared vision, with the goal of offering inclusive care, natural looking results, and a medically grounded approach to aesthetics. We built the practice we both envisioned.
Throughout this journey, faith and perspective have helped guide us through challenges and decisions along the way. What we do today reflects years of learning, growth, and shared values that continue to shape how we care for our patients.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, we faced our share of challenges early on. We began by renting a single room inside a hair salon owned by someone we knew and who believed in our vision. We were deeply grateful for that opportunity because it allowed us to begin caring for patients while working toward something bigger.
At the same time, we were very aware of how the setting might feel, especially for someone new. Medical aesthetics requires trust, and we understood how vulnerable it can feel to trust someone with your face in a space that was not designed for medical care. From the beginning, we knew that environment was temporary.
While we were operating there, we secured the lease for our current location and began the process of transforming the space into a medical aesthetics practice built around safe care, comfort, and a welcoming patient experience. During the build out, we encountered multiple permitting issues that delayed our move several times. As a result, we had to pay rent in two locations for a few months, which was extremely challenging for a small business that had just opened its doors. Despite that pressure, we stayed focused on creating the kind of environment we would want for our own patients.
Beyond the physical space, one of the ongoing challenges we face is the amount of fear driven messaging that exists online. Patients often come in feeling confused or hesitant because they hear conflicting opinions about treatments like filler. One provider says one thing, another says the opposite, and sometimes those opinions are influenced by personal agendas rather than what is best for the patient. This creates unnecessary fear and makes it harder for people to make informed decisions.
Another challenge is the presence of unlicensed injectors, who may appear legitimate and, in some cases, operate within office settings despite lacking proper credentials or training. These situations create real safety concerns and make it more difficult for licensed providers to maintain trust and transparency within the industry.
We’ve been impressed with R&R Skin and Aesthetics, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
R&R Skin and Aesthetics is a nurse practitioner owned practice focused on skin health and aesthetic medicine. We offer injectables, laser treatments, advanced facials, and wellness services as part of a comprehensive medical aesthetics practice. Every patient is different, and we take the time to really understand their goals, their concerns, and what makes sense for them rather than following trends or pushing treatments.
What sets us apart is how we see this work. We both come from hospital based nursing backgrounds, so we approach medical aesthetics as medical care, not just about beauty or cosmetics. That perspective shapes everything from how we assess a face to how we think about risk, safety, and long term outcomes. In clinician owned practices like ours, treatments are often delivered by the same providers over time, supporting consistent care and outcomes. When it is your own practice, your name, reputation, and long term patient relationships are directly tied to every outcome, which naturally influences how personally invested you are in every decision. We treat patients the same way we would want to be treated ourselves and the same way we would care for our own friends and family. Every person who sits in our chair is not just another appointment, but someone’s parent, partner, sibling, or child, and we never lose sight of the trust that is being placed in us or compromise when it comes to safety or quality of care.
We are known for our conservative, anatomy driven approach and our commitment to ongoing education. We invest heavily in advanced training, technology, and thoughtful treatment planning so we can support safer outcomes and help patients feel confident and informed in their decisions. We also take pride in our ability to safely treat a wide range of skin types and tones, something that requires experience, continued learning, and respect for individual differences.
We also have a strong eye for detail and artistry, which we think is just as important as the medical side. Aesthetics is not about doing more, it is about knowing when to do less. We pay close attention to balance, proportion, and subtle changes so the outcome feels natural and still reflects who they are.
Brand wise, what we are most proud of is the trust we have built. Many of our patients have been with us since the very beginning, and they continue to choose us because they feel heard, respected, and genuinely cared for.
What we want people to know is that R&R Skin and Aesthetics is not about shortcuts, trends, or volume based care. We believe the highest standard of aesthetic care is one that prioritizes safety, enhances with the goal of natural looking outcomes, and honors the trust each patient places in us.
How do you define success?
For us, success is when our patients come in and tell us people keep saying, “You look great,” but no one can quite figure out why. They just notice glowing skin and a more youthful look, not the work behind it.
We also define success through trust. When a patient refers their friend, their partner, or even their own family member to us, that means more than any metric. Trusting us with your face is one thing, but trusting us with someone you love carries a different weight.
We also see success in longevity. Patients who have been under our care for years tend to look balanced and natural, without signs of overtreatment. That long term consistency reflects our conservative approach.
From the beginning, we chose to reinvest into the practice whenever possible. Even when it was not the easiest or most profitable decision, our focus has always been the same. How can we make this safer, and what do our patients need that we do not yet have.
Everything we have built at R&R comes from that mindset. Doing the right thing, prioritizing safety and quality, and allowing the work to speak for itself.
