Today we’d like to introduce you to Estelle Berenbaum.
Hi Estelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in France and began my legal studies there, where I earned advanced degrees in law, political science, and management sciences. Early on, I knew I wanted an international career, so in 2005 I moved to the United States to gain firsthand experience with the U.S. legal system.
Going through the immigration process myself was a turning point. Experiencing it personally gave me a deep understanding of how stressful, complex, and life changing immigration can be. Choosing to practice immigration law was therefore very natural and personal.
After moving to the U.S., I completed an LL.M. in U.S. and Transnational Law at the University of Miami School of Law, where I graduated at the top of my class. Right after, I was admitted to the New York State Bar, which allows me to represent clients nationwide and internationally, since immigration law is federal.
Before founding my own firm upon passing the bar, I trained and practiced alongside highly respected immigration attorneys at leading U.S. law firms, including Fowler White Burnett and Kurzban, Kurzban, Weinger, Tetzeli & Pratt. This experience gave me a strong foundation in complex business and investment based immigration matters.
Today, as the founder and president of The Berenbaum, P.A. Law Firm, I focus on business immigration and work closely with entrepreneurs, executives, and international companies. My background in both the French and U.S. legal systems allows me to understand my clients’ businesses globally and offer practical, strategic immigration solutions. My goal has always been to combine technical excellence with a very hands-on, human approach, because I know how much is at stake for my clients.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely was not a smooth road. Moving to a new country meant learning an entirely new legal system, adapting to a different culture, and working in another language, which I did not fully master when I first arrived in the U.S. Everything had to be learned from scratch, and there were moments when the process was challenging and demanding.
That said, I was very determined. Through hard work, discipline, and a strong sense of professionalism, I was able to succeed academically, complete my LL.M., and pass one of the most difficult and prestigious bar exams on the first try.
Launching my own firm came with its own challenges, from building credibility at a young age to growing a client base in a competitive market.
Over time, that effort paid off. Today, my firm is successful, and I am proud of the trust my clients place in me. I personally handle every case, which allows me to provide a very hands-on, high-level, and personalized experience. Knowing that my clients value both my expertise and the close attention they receive makes the journey worth it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Berenbaum, P.A. Law Firm is my immigration law practice, dedicated exclusively to U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Law. Immigration is the only area I practice, which allows me to stay highly focused, strategic, and constantly up to date in a field that evolves quickly.
Although my office is based in Miami, Florida, immigration law is federal law, so I represent clients throughout the United States and internationally. I work with individuals, entrepreneurs, investors, executives, and companies seeking to establish, grow, or transfer their business activities to the U.S.
I am particularly known for my work in business and investment based immigration, helping clients design strategies that align with their professional and entrepreneurial goals.
In parallel, I also handle family based immigration matters, assisting couples, spouses, parents, and families through the process of obtaining lawful status and permanent residence in the U.S., often in complex or sensitive situations.
What truly sets my practice apart is the level of personal involvement. I personally handle every case from start to finish. Nothing is delegated. Clients work directly with me, which allows for a high level of attention, consistency, and responsiveness. Many clients describe the experience as very hands on and almost concierge like, which is something I value deeply.
From a brand perspective, what I am most proud of is the trust my clients place in me. Immigration matters have a significant impact on people’s lives, families, and businesses, and I take that responsibility very seriously. My goal is for clients to feel understood, supported, and confident at every stage of the process.
What I want readers to know is that my practice is built on expertise, precision, and genuine commitment. I combine strong legal knowledge with a human approach, and I am fully invested in the success of every client I represent.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is trust. Immigration decisions affect people’s lives, families, and livelihoods in very real and lasting ways. My clients are often making some of the most important decisions of their lives, whether it involves relocating their family, investing their life savings, or rebuilding a future in a new country. They need to feel confident that their attorney truly understands both the legal stakes and the personal impact of each decision.
That is why I am deeply committed to being personally involved in every case, from start to finish. I personally handle each application, review every document, and remain directly involved at every stage of the process. I am always honest with my clients about their options, the risks involved, and realistic outcomes, and I make sure they clearly understand what is happening and why at each step.
Once clients place their trust in me, I see it as my responsibility to personally oversee their case and protect their interests. Knowing that my clients feel supported, understood, and genuinely well represented is what drives my work and is the standard I hold myself to every day.
