Hi Ana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started as an speech language pathology assistant and took a pay cut at my job at that time when was approximately 21-22 years old. Then, I went back to school as I worked as an SLPA, and got my masters to become a Speech Language Pathologist. It was a dream of mine to one day open up my own business or office, so part of my 5 year plan after graduation was opening my own place. So I did go a little over the 5 years but I made it. I branched out, opened my own business officially and now in the next month or so, opening my very first office.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was not a smooth road. I think nothing worth having is easy. During my masters I worked, studied and sometimes pulled all nighters right before a big exam. Being your own boss definitely means more stress so I can wholeheartedly say that it hasn’t always been rainbows and butterflies.
