Check Out Kameesha Pascoe’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kameesha Pascoe.

Hi Kameesha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Being first generation American from a Jamaican bred family life was not always easy. I am Originally from Long Island, New York however from the age of two we moved to Central Florida. I never thought that I would be pursuing what I am pursuing today for I aspired to play professional basketball early on in my years. I was just 16 years still in school when I decided to get back into the modeling scene. At the time, I juggled with what I wanted to pursue the most as my career and so I went to college in pursuit to play basketball. As I experienced more through life; I gravitated more towards the creative aspect of myself and so as I approached my senior, I made a pivot on online in pursuit to actively go after my entertainment career . After a span of one year of actively modeling and going on auditions, I was faced with rejection. I started to feel as if this industry this wasn’t a for me til– I realized something, I longed to create opportunities that can control the narrative in. It has been 3 years after my deep dive and I have written scripts to pilots and features along with a pending launch to my production company, “Onism Films”. I would like to call myself a multifacinated creative, I have a passion to creative deep and meaning stories that may resonate to the masses but more specifically to the younger generation. Often times, young adults are the most misunderstood age group for as they’re growing out of adolescence, they’re faced with the responsibility of becoming …..

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely was not a smooth road. I was faced with rejection at the door but I am true believer it is not the obstacle that is thrown your way but how you ultimately overcome that adversity . Throughout this journey, I thought I wasn’t go enough to succeed in such a cut throat business– folks would tell me that I needed to develop tough skin if I ever think I’ll survive this business. Hearing that was news to me for, I believed I kept a solid head of my shoulders.

I knew making solid connections was difficult but I didn’t realize it was that much of a struggle. It was when I’d attend networking events that I realized nobody’s your friend but there in sought of the benefit you can ultimately provide . I am not saying it is wrong thing to do but when the lines becomes blurred that is when it becomes challenging to accept the relationship . Well, I suppose lol that is what individuals were talking about in me needing to develop tough skin haha.

Further more, being a person of color in the industry comes with weight of its own. As a African-American women, I am faced with the expectation to smile and accept what ever that comes but given the shift in the industry— there has been a uproar in African- Americans dominating this space like; Ava Duvernay, Spike Lee, Ryan Coogler, Issa Rae and more ensuring their ownership with the formation of solid entities.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a multifaceted creative working across modeling, acting, producing, screenwriting, and content creation. I recently formed my production company, Onism Films, and we’re preparing for an official launch. I’m passionate about creating deep, cinematic stories that resonate with audiences. I like to think of myself as a chameleon — always evolving, constantly adapting, and exploring new ways to tell stories. That combination of versatility, passion, and initiative is what makes my approach different from the rest.

How do you define success?
Whew!! Success can mean alot of things for different people but for me it means reaching self-actualization. It means to hitting my fullest potential as a creative entrepreneur. Success to me is being 1% closer to your goal to each day as it eventually will all align as a result. Many dream of the material aspect and that’s fine to have but with it I want to live a deep and meaningful life . Success also means having the freedom to explore, take risks, and constantly evolve, both personally and professionally. Ultimately, it’s about building a life that’s rich in experience, connection, and purpose, not just accolades or possessions
