Meet Michael Olowu of OLOWU LAW

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Olowu.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Born and raised in Rivers State, Nigeria, Olowu immigrated to the United States at age 18 with just $500, no family, and no safety net. What he possessed instead was clarity of purpose and an unrelenting work ethic. He put himself through college and law school, graduating with honors from Tennessee State University before earning his Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law.

Olowu began his legal career as a prosecutor with the Broward County State Attorney’s Office, where he quickly distinguished himself as a formidable trial lawyer. Handling hundreds of cases across county and circuit courts, he served as lead counsel in more than 40 trials to verdict. His results-driven approach earned him recognition in 2020 as a “Trial Convector,” an honor reserved for prosecutors with exceptional trial performance and conviction rates.

Transitioning into private practice, Olowu joined Fasi & DiBello, P.A., representing individuals and Fortune 50 companies in complex, high-stakes litigation. His work spanned premises liability, medical malpractice, product liability, construction law, and commercial disputes—managing cases from inception through trial in both state and federal courts. In 2022, he secured a complete defense verdict that saved his client $1.57 million, underscoring his belief that preparation and persistence are decisive advantages.

Olowu later founded Olowu Law a personal injury and criminal defense law firm with a clear mission that no individual should be forced to face the legal system alone. Drawing on his experience as both a former prosecutor and defense attorney for big corporations, he built a firm grounded in accountability, strategic litigation, and client advocacy.

For Olowu, success is not measured solely in verdicts or settlements—but in building an institution that protects people when the stakes are highest. His journey reflects a broader truth: disciplined execution and long-term vision can transform even the most improbable beginnings into enduring impact.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all—it has been anything but a smooth road.
I came to the United States at 18 years old with $500, no family, no friends, and no safety net. That alone meant learning how to survive before I could even think about succeeding. I worked while going to school, struggled financially, and often carried the weight of uncertainty about whether I was even going to make it. There were moments when quitting would have been the easier option—but failure was never an option I allowed myself.
Law school was especially difficult. Nothing was handed to me. I had to outwork, out-prepare, and outlast people who had resources, connections, and support systems I didn’t. I learned quickly that discipline had to replace comfort and that consistency mattered more than motivation.
Early in my career as a prosecutor, the pressure was relentless. The stakes were high, the workload was heavy, and every decision mattered. Standing in court, trying cases, and carrying the responsibility of people’s lives taught me resilience the hard way. There were losses, tough rulings, and moments of self-doubt—but each setback sharpened my preparation and strengthened my resolve.
Transitioning into private practice brought a different set of challenges. The expectations were higher, the cases more complex, and the margin for error smaller. Building credibility, earning trust, and proving myself at every stage required patience and humility.
Starting my own firm was one of the hardest steps of all. Entrepreneurship comes with uncertainty—financial risk, long hours, and constant responsibility. There were nights of doubt and days where the pressure felt overwhelming. But those struggles clarified my purpose.
Every obstacle reinforced the same lesson: growth is uncomfortable, but it is necessary. The challenges didn’t break me—they shaped how I practice law, how I lead, and how I fight for my clients. I don’t take any opportunity lightly, because I know firsthand how hard it is to earn one.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about OLOWU LAW?
Olowu Law is built for moments when everything is on the line.

At its core, Olowu Law is a trial-focused law firm created to protect people when the legal system feels overwhelming, intimidating, or stacked against them. We represent individuals—not institutions—who are facing some of the most stressful moments of their lives, whether after a serious injury or when charged with a crime.

What We Do
Olowu Law focuses on serious personal injury and criminal defense matters. Our personal injury practice includes car and truck accidents, premises liability, negligent security, wrongful death, and catastrophic injury cases. On the criminal side, we defend clients against felonies and misdemeanors, including violent crimes, drug offenses, weapons charges, probation violations, and serious traffic matters.

We are known for being trial-ready from day one. Every case is prepared as if it will go before a jury. That mindset drives better investigations, stronger leverage in negotiations, and more powerful courtroom advocacy when trial becomes unavoidable.

What Sets Us Apart
What truly distinguishes Olowu Law is perspective. As a former prosecutor, I know how cases are evaluated, where pressure points exist, and how decisions are made behind closed doors. That insight allows us to anticipate strategies, challenge weak evidence early, and hold the government and insurance companies accountable.

We also refuse to treat clients like case numbers. Many of our clients come to us feeling ignored, underestimated, or unheard. We pride ourselves on accessibility, transparency, and relentless preparation. Clients know where their case stands, what the strategy is, and that someone is fighting for them with urgency and purpose.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I find real fulfillment in seeing hard work turn into results—not just for myself, but for the people who trust me when their lives are on the line. When a client walks into my office overwhelmed, afraid, or unsure of what comes next, and later walks out with clarity, protection, or justice—that transformation is deeply meaningful to me. Knowing that my preparation and advocacy can change the trajectory of someone’s life is a powerful source of happiness.

On a personal level, happiness comes from faith, health, and routine. Waking up very early, training my body, sharpening my mind, and staying grounded gives me peace. Those habits keep me focused and grateful, especially knowing how far I’ve come and how much opportunity exists.

Ultimately, happiness for me is alignment—when my work, values, and purpose move in the same direction. When I’m serving others, pushing myself to improve, and honoring the sacrifices that got me here, I feel fulfilled.
