Daily Inspiration: Meet Tyler Mills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Mills.

Tyler Mills

Hi Tyler, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been a star. I just had to grow into understanding my own light.

I got my start in the nightclub industry through my aunt’s promotional company, Five Star Promotions, out of Tampa, Fl. In college, I threw my first event and gambled my Bright Futures scholarship money on it. No one came. I lo st the money and ended up on academic probation. That moment humbled me and forced me to really learn the business.

The Nightlife became my classroom. I learned how attention works, how people move, and how to turn presence into opportunity. That foundation eventually led me into marketing, content, and experience-driven work that I do today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth. Early on, I dealt with poor leadership and a lack of support from people I once looked up to with real hope. The same people who praised me for being advanced before my time later tried to stunt my growth and punish me for learning how to run before I was ever allowed to walk. I also encountered business partners who moved in bad faith and situations where money was stolen. There was also the moment I stepped into full ownership myself, building with the help of someone I trusted deeply, only to experience that same “support” turn into resistance. That taught me how quickly intentions can shift when growth challenges existing dynamics. When you stop shrinking and start stepping into yourself, setting boundaries can quickly make you the villain.

What was most baffling was that my only intention was growth. I wanted to see everyone evolve, including the people I admired. Instead, that growth became threatening. But that’s part of the process. Those are the growing pains that come with choosing yourself. It’s normal.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a cultural brokerage, and that philosophy is the foundation of +CNTRL, my creative & cultural platform. I translate culture, people, and energy into platforms, experiences, and opportunities that move brands and communities forward. My work is rooted in real spaces, real relationships, and a deep understanding of how attention and influence actually operate.

Through +CNTRL, I’m known for connecting the right people, shaping moments with intention, and building systems around creativity that feel authentic and sustainable. What sets me apart is instinct and discernment. I don’t follow culture, I help direct it.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Don’t confuse access with alignment. Being talented or early doesn’t mean everyone will protect you. Some people will find you through love, friendship, or kinship, sell you a dream, and position themselves as the bridge to your next level. Most of the time, it’s critics with no real credentials or substance, just a well-decorated mask. The people you think you need often aren’t even the door. No key. No seat at the table. That’s why discernment matters early. Get everything in writing. Always. Learn the business side sooner than you think you need to and pay attention to patterns, not promises.

More importantly, keep it real with yourself. Things will happen. You’ll lose friends. You’ll lose family. You’ll lose sleep. You’ll lose money. It will get lonely and misunderstood, and there will be moments where no one sees what you see. That familiar “I want to quit” feeling isn’t a sign you’re wrong. It’s usually the tipping point before something shifts. Sit there a little longer. If you can survive the Nirvana, you’ll come out in your Narnia.

Cheers to believing and betting on yourself. May the odds be forever in your favor. I’m rooting for you.
