Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Gonzalez.
Hi Jorge, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After years of being a Marketing Consultant for some of the largest Financial and Architectural, Engineering firms most notably J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley & Company and AECOM. I was introduced to the Private Transportation industry and launched (Miami Elite Transportation company and Concierge) aka METaConcierge, LLC in 2016. The landscape was changing for the private transportation industry and I felt it was the right time to make a change. Since our initial launch, we have grown significantly. We currently have small fleet of Luxury vehicles as well as an internal group of Independent Operators working within our corporate framework. Most of our clients are HNMWI’s which have a large interest in keeping their private lives private, which is why we often sign NDA’s to protect their information. In addition to Miami, we now serve a variety of different cities including Ft. Lauderdale, Palm Beach, the Florida Keys, Naples and Ft Myers. Our business model is simple; provide professional, safe, luxury transportation with concierge services available upon request.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The private transportation industry was shifting to a different business model in 2016. The larger more established transportation companies which used to have extensive fleets were now downsizing. The industry in South Florida is also seasonal much like many other business’s in the area. Aligning ourselves with specific affiliates was essential as well as establishing our own private clients. This journey came with many heartaches, including last minute cancellations, broken business deals and several ethically questionable personalities. Persistence eventually paid off as it always does, and now we find ourselves in a position where we can select the majority of the clients we serve.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I started my professional career in NYC in the mid 1980’s. I came from a creative background first being involved in graphic design, presentation support to then later doing video production work. Despite being in the creative/artistic field I found myself working for some of the largest financial institutions in the world, including J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley & Company to name a few. The “big banks” and “brokerage houses” had an immense need for graphic design professionals at that time and I exploited as many opportunities as I could. Working in Manhattan in the late 1980’s and 1990’s both as a freelancer and full-time employee, was nothing short of fantastic for a variety of reasons. This marketing experience eventually led me to Florida where I found myself serving as Marketing Director for companies like DMJM, PBS&J & AECOM. I was directly involved in some of the largest transportation projects in South Florida & NYC such as Port of Miami Redevelopment, TRI-Rail Double Corridor & The 2nd Avenue Subway Line.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My partner at METaConcierge, LLC also happens to be my wife. Since she came on board our revenue has literally doubled. Deanna Quinn came from a Retail & Sales background most recently serving as Regional Manager for Saks 5th Ave, and Bloomingdales, both in New York City and Miami. She has helped me grow professionally as well as expand our company’s outreach. I was always warned about the perils of running or owning a business with your spouse, however it’s been smooth sailing since she joined the company in 2020.
