Nicole Leon of Plantation on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Nicole Leon and have shared our conversation below.

Nicole, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity, always.

You can be smart and driven, but without integrity none of it really means anything. Integrity is what builds trust, keeps relationships solid, and lets everything else actually work.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Nicole Leon – entrepreneur, confidence mentor, multi-passionate queen, and your chronically online bestie. I’m a Latina, a mom, and a Florida girl who believes community, kindness, and real connection. I love meeting new people, making meaningful connections, and virgin piña coladas. I’m also the founder of L. Leon Virtual Assistance, where I support founders and leaders with emotionally intelligent, high-level executive support. At the core of everything I do is people – how we show up for each other, build trust, and grow together.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I believed that being quiet meant I was being respectful, that taking up less space made me “good.”

I don’t believe that anymore. I’ve learned that having a voice isn’t disrespectful and that honoring who I am, speaking up, and being seen is just as important as being kind.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain when I realized how lonely it felt to be carrying things no one around me was talking about. I looked around and thought, someone has to say this out loud.

That’s when it shifted for me. I decided to be the person I needed when I was younger. To speak the truth, to name the hard things, and to remind others they’re not alone in their suffering. What once felt heavy became a source of connection and strength.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That everything needs a strategy, when sometimes, no strategy is the strategy. Not every moment needs to be optimized or perfectly planned. Sometimes the best move is to trust your instincts and to take action.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope they say I spoke my truth, even when it was hard. That I stood in the gap for others and led with genuine kindness. That I was bold, honest, and made people feel seen, heard, and understood.

I hope they remember me as a devoted mother who adored her family, an absolute fighter who never gave up, and a cycle breaker, someone who healed her DNA and chose differently. A woman who made difficult decisions not to cause harm, but in service of a greater good.

Fiercely loyal. Fiercely herself.
And crazy as all hell.
