Lil Pak (born Malik Arif) is a Pakistani-American rapper and songwriter whose music blends elements of hip-hop and R&B. Raised in Baltimore, Maryland, after spending his early years in Abbottabad, Pakistan, Lil Pak discovered his passion for music at a young age. Inspired by iconic artists like Lil Wayne, Tupac Shakur, and Drake, he dedicated himself to crafting his unique sound. By 17, Lil Pak had already penned several songs and released his debut single, “Alone,” marking the beginning of his musical journey.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all. The biggest struggle has been consistency, mentally, emotionally, and financially. There were times when I had the talent and the opportunity, but not the structure or support I needed to stay fully locked in. Balancing real-life responsibilities, faith, and personal growth while trying to chase music made things harder than people see on the outside.
Another challenge was dealing with expectations both my own and other people’s. When things didn’t move as fast as expected, it created doubt and pressure. I’ve also had to learn the business side the hard way, realizing that music isn’t just about making songs, it’s about discipline, sacrifice, and showing up every day even when motivation isn’t there.
Overall, the struggle shaped me. It forced me to mature, get honest with myself, and understand that nothing is guaranteed. Every setback taught me something, and I’m still learning how to turn those lessons into forward momentum.

I’m I’m an artist who creates music based on real experiences, pain, growth, faith, and ambition. I specialize in making music that connects emotionally while still hitting hard. Whether it’s street records, melodic tracks, or motivational anthems, my focus is always authenticity. I want people to feel something when they hear my music, not just listen to it.
I’m known for my raw honesty and my ability to move between different sounds without losing who I am. I don’t box myself into one lane, I can speak to where I’ve been, where I’m at now, and where I’m trying to go. That versatility is important to me because life isn’t one-dimensional.
