Hi Breanna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Tax preparation has been a part of my life from an early age, and over time, it became clear that this was more than just a skill. It was a responsibility I took seriously. Helping people understand their finances and make informed decisions is what ultimately shaped the direction of my career.
In 12th grade, I began working with a local tax preparation firm. When tax season started, I was brought into the office, where I helped prepare files, greet clients, answer phone calls, and handle client correspondence after school. I returned for the next two tax seasons, gaining hands-on experience before the firm eventually closed.
I continued to focus on school and later began working full-time in banking. During that time, I also continued helping friends and family file their taxes on the side each tax season. Those experiences reinforced my passion for tax work, as I saw firsthand the clarity and relief proper guidance could provide.
After graduating from Florida Atlantic University with my bachelor’s degree, I worked with several tax firms to continue building my knowledge and experience. I found myself drawn to the problem-solving aspect of tax work and the opportunity to help individuals and families navigate complex financial situations with confidence.
In November 2023, I decided to launch TaxOne Financial so I could serve my community at a higher level. Today, I assist individuals, families, and small businesses with tax preparation and tax resolution. I am an IRS Enrolled Agent, the highest credential awarded by the IRS, which allows me to represent clients on any tax matter before the IRS.
Looking back, my journey from getting my start in high school to becoming an Enrolled Agent has been defined by discipline, growth, and a deep commitment to service. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited to continue building something that creates real impact in my community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There’s really no such thing as a smooth road, but I’ve been blessed to learn how to navigate challenges as they come. One of the biggest struggles was my age. Being younger in an industry where trust and experience matter, I’ve had moments where clients questioned whether I was “old enough” to handle their situation. I had potential clients hesitate once they met me in person or ask how long I had been doing taxes, even when referrals brought them in. Instead of taking it personally, I used those moments as motivation to be prepared, stay knowledgeable, and let my work speak for itself.
Along the way, I also faced challenges, such as the lack of a proper payment agreement in place early on and keeping up with the constant changes in tax laws. Each of those situations forced me to become more structured, disciplined, and intentional in how I run my business.
Over time, consistency, continued education, and results helped shift those initial perceptions. My age became less of a question and more of a non-factor once clients experienced the clarity and value I brought to the table.
