Annette, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am an attorney whose expertise is rooted in a genuine passion for real estate. I’ve always been drawn to real estate because it represents so much more than property. It’s stability, opportunity and sometimes the start of a new chapter in someone’s life. Early in my legal career, I realized that real estate clients needed more than documents and deadlines. They needed someone who would walk the journey with them, explain things clearly and protect their interests along the way.
I started my career defending owners’ property rights, which gave me a deep appreciation for the value of land and ownership. Later, as part of a large nationally recognized law firm, I had the chance to work on complex real estate matters that shaped the way I practice today, honing in on details and personalization.
In 2013, I opened Lopez Teal Real Estate Law & Title because I wanted clients to have a boutique experience—one where they feel seen, supported and guided from the very first conversation to the final signature. What began as a small practice has grown into a firm that serves clients across the globe, from Miami to Europe to Asia. We work with first-time buyers, investors, developers and high net-worth investors seeking a trusted legal partner to safeguard their real estate investments. Each transaction is still just as important to me as the very first one I ever handled.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like most entrepreneurs, I’ve had my share of bumps along the way. When you start a firm, especially a boutique one, you don’t just practice law, you become your own marketing team, operations manager, bookkeeper and everything in between. Balancing all of that while maintaining the level of service I expect from myself hasn’t always been easy.
Real estate can also be unpredictable. Markets shift, interest rates change overnight, lenders have delays, last-minute title issues pop up, there’s always something that requires attention and problem-solving. Being the steady hand through all those moments has taught me a lot about patience, resilience and staying calm under pressure.
But every challenge helped shape the firm into what it is today: a place where clients know they’re supported, protected and in good hands.
