Community Highlights: Meet Camille De Armas of Kamy Photographie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille De Armas.

Hi Camille, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I didn’t start photography with a big business plan in mind. I started because I was obsessed with memories. I always found myself scrolling through photos of my past, wanting to remember the good times, or family members who were not here anymore.

I began photographing families 5 years ago, and it quickly became clear that this wasn’t just something I enjoyed, it was something I needed. As my own life changed, especially after becoming a mother twice, my work changed too. I slowed down. I became more intentional. I cared less about perfection and more about connection.

Over the years, I stopped seeing photography as just “taking photos.” For me, it’s about creating an experience that feels calm, thoughtful, and supportive, especially for mothers. I want everything to feel easy and taken care of, so families can just be present and get real memories with emotions that speak to them, not “posed” photos with no feeling.

Where I am today is the result of a lot of growth, trial and error, and trusting my intuition. I’m still evolving, but my why has stayed the same: capturing real, honest moments and turning them into memories that actually mean something.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s never felt very hard either. I’ve always trusted myself and the process. I’ve always been very clear on where I wanted to go with my business and the kind of work and experience I wanted to offer.

I knew early on what I didn’t want, and even more clearly, what I did want. That clarity helped me stay focused and grounded, even during moments of doubt or change.

Today, I’m exactly where I dreamed of being when I started. And at the same time, I still have goals I’m excited about and ready to work toward. I see my journey as something that keeps evolving, and keeps me alive and fulfilled at the same time. Always aligned, always intentional, and always driven by purpose.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business is centered around family, motherhood, and connection. I specialize in maternity, newborn, and family photography, with a very natural, timeless, and emotional approach. My work is soft, honest, and intentionally simple, focused on real moments rather than posed perfection.

What truly sets me apart is the result. The images themselves. The photos I create are close, deep, and intentional. They feel intimate and honest, and they don’t look like what’s commonly done around here. I’m very intentional about how I photograph, how I connect with my clients, and what I want them to feel when they look at their images. I’ve built my business to feel calm, thoughtful, and supportive, especially for mothers who already carry so much mental load. I want them to feel taken care of.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the consistency and intention behind everything I offer. My work looks like me. It hasn’t been shaped by trends or algorithms, but by years of refining my vision and trusting it. When someone sees my images, I want them to immediately feel something: warmth, closeness, nostalgia.

My brand is about more than photos. It’s about slowing down, being present, and creating memories that will actually matter years from now. Everything I offer is designed to last, both emotionally and physically.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
It’s okay to choose depth over noise. To slow down. To invest in what truly matters. Photography, for me, isn’t about documenting everything, it’s about honoring what’s meaningful.

Whether it’s in business, motherhood, or life in general, trusting your intuition and your vision makes all the difference. When you do, you create something that feels aligned, lasting, and deeply personal. That’s what I hope people feel when they come across my work, and what I hope they carry with them beyond the images themselves.
