Community Highlights: Meet Alina Gobbi of The Backstage Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alina Gobbi.

Hi Alina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When I began my career as a makeup artist six years ago, my biggest challenge was building a clientele from scratch. I didn’t know anyone in the area where I lived at the time, so I quickly realized that I needed to create my own online presence. That’s when I decided to build my first website.

I spent a month or two refining it, learning through trial and error. At the time, I didn’t fully understand website layout, client conversion, or SEO—I simply followed what felt right. About a month after launching the site, I received my first inquiry. Within a year, I was booked up to six months in advance. My website began appearing on the first page of Google search results and Google Maps, all without any paid advertising.

Encouraged by the results, I built websites using the same approach for my husband’s company and for a few close friends, with similar success. A couple of years later, we moved to Florida, and once again I had to rebuild my clientele from the ground up. I applied the same strategy, and within a year I was fully booked—again, without paid ads, relying solely on my website and networking.

Today, my website attracts thousands of visitors and generates one to three inquiries daily. That experience naturally led me to the idea of doing this for others. What started as a hobby has now grown into my new business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge in this field is the pace of change. New platforms and tools are launched almost daily, which means there is always something new to learn and stay on top of. Working with businesses also comes with a higher level of responsibility—you have to be extremely mindful when implementing new systems, making sure they integrate seamlessly without disrupting existing workflows.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Backstage Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Backstage Group helps service-based businesses attract more clients through modern websites, strategic SEO, smart automations, AI and professional software solutions. While we primarily work with beauty and event professionals, we also have experience supporting construction and restaurant businesses. Our goal is to help businesses look more professional, attract the right clients, and operate more efficiently.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Start before you feel ready, and don’t wait for everything to be perfect. If you wait until you feel fully prepared, you may never start at all. Many of the things I know today came from real experience, mistakes, and adjusting along the way – not from having everything figured out upfront. When I started, I learned that clarity comes from action.
