Today we’d like to introduce you to Glory Quiñonez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I would like to share my story Glory Quiñonez who also goes by La Muñeca is a Puerto Rican model. She was born in the Bronx, New York. She’s the oldest of 5 siblings and the only little person in her family. I was always into fashion since a child growing up watching America next top model to now becoming the first Latina little person to walk for New York fashion week in September 2015 with designer Gregory Taylor was a shocker for me. This came about when Trish Morris from courageous faces foundation reached out to her to walk as one of her faces. Glory became very popular by her sneaker game and her apparel she wears in a day to day basis. Over the years Glory been walking in different runways. In July 2022 she was asked to host by Lauren & Becky the little people of America fashion show along side with another little person name Olivia as well as July 2023 with another little person name Celia. Till this day she still is hosting the little people of America fashion shows alongside with another LP. In September 2023 for NYFW she walked for celebrity Designer Daniels leathers. October 16, 2023 she became the first little person to walk for Brooklyn fashion week with designer Cece Hinds. She became the first little person to walk for Daniels leather for Miami swim week in May 2024. New York fashion week SS 24 she walked again for Daniels leather and she walked for designer Qstyling for her Q2 clothing line. Glory has been featured in many magazines and appeared on tv for the past year alone did my first podcast interview with Cafe Con Lourdes along side with an artist name Trauma in 2024.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes it has been a smooth road and I can’t complaint but I’ve dealt with designers discriminating me because of my height or me looking different.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Other than being known for becoming the first little person model to walk for NYFW in September 2015 and the first to walk for fashion week Brooklyn in October 2023. Right now I work at the museum of sex as a guide is a fun place to work at with great workers. I’m proud of making a difference in the world and people who look up to me can say to themselves if she can do it I can too !!! I give all the glory to God. For allowing me to achieve one of my dreams. What sets me apart from others is I go after what I want even if people don’t believe I can do it. I’m a go getter and I don’t let anything or anyone stop me.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
In the beginning it might be nerve wracking, but if theres something you want to achieve I say go for it. Put God first and let him order your steps. Be confident in your craft don’t let anyone say you can’t do it because you can. Always believe in yourself with God anything is possible. Pray about it, if is meant for you, you will succeed successfully. I wish I had the confidence I have now when I started walking the runway. I was very shy and worrying what people weee saying, now I’m not my self esteem is through the roof through all the challenges I face in life now I’m very confident within myself. I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me – Philippians 4:13.
