Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristie Laplante.
Hi kristie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been a creative whether that be performance, visual, or even philosophically; my mind has just always worked differently than others. However, I got into painting this year after attending my first Art Basel even the year prior. At the time, I didn’t believe in my creative work in the slightest. So, attending the event and seeing work that was priced at numbers I couldn’t even fathom on walls the price of mortgages that looked similar to or even simpler than my own art…I decided to take that leap of faith and start putting myself out there.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
2024 was a really hard year for me. There were a lot of internal and external factors working against me and at one point, I couldn’t bare it. Everyday was a feat to find a reason to persevere, My attempts to make some kind of effort in my day-to-day consisted of filler activities and keeping up the look of routine to subvert concern. I lost all of my self respect at the time and I had no more belief in anything. However, on my birthday that year, I experienced a pivotal moment that took me from a place where I was tired of trying to one that told me it was time to put in some work within. For I can’t leave this world before giving proof of my stay.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My name is Kristie Laplante, I am a 22 year old multidisciplinary artist and businesswoman. I specialize in visual and performing arts. I teach tap as well as choreograph and performing the style, I also paint, model, act, create content and creative direct. I am most known for my art, modeling, and dancing. Overall, I am rather proud of how far I’ve come, what I’ve accomplished, and the individuals I’ve connected with within the one year marketing myself and sharing my talents with others.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
It’s scary to start, but it’s a disservice to the world to not share. So once you get over that hurdle of actually starting to broadcast your abilities, the weight immediately comes off your shoulders. To be quite frank, if you tell people what you see yourself as and put in the work to support said claim, who can tell you otherwise? As for what I wish I knew before starting, I wish I understood the true power of mindset and positive affirmation. People can be throwing compliments at you and your work, but it hold no weight because you have no belief in your own abilities. The immediate change in your thoughts and word choice puts you in better position to receive. Be open to opportunities rather than shut down the notion of something not being “for you”because it seems too good to be true.
