Good morning Eulois, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Are you walking a path—or wandering?
Life’s a journey; however, you have to have a sense of direction. At times I travel on the path that I can see see clearly and other times, circumstances may cause me to wander. but I have found that taking the time to chart a path through life allows for you to focus on a goal and move towards that goal. Even if you get knocked off of the path, you know that the path still exists. All you have to do is just work back towards it, and you will meet your destination. I’m walking a path.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I currently serve as the CEO of Friends of The Underline Inc. leading the overall management and leadership of the organization’s finances, fundraising, programming, advocacy, and developing public and private strategic partnerships. The Underline is the premier redevelopment project in Miami that has transformed the land below Miami’s Metrorail into an inspirational destination for residents and visitors. The Underline connects 112,000 residents and nearly 20,000 businesses across three municipalities to commerce, recreation, entertainment, culture, art, health, and education programs, connected by a 10-mile, 120-acre park, urban trail and transit system.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
A breakdown in communication erodes the ties between us. We’re often more intent on defending our viewpoint than truly hearing one another. By leading with respect, recognizing our differences, and valuing each other’s ideas, we open the door to deeper understanding and stronger relationships.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There are always moments when you feel tired, weary and thinking about giving up…it’s natural. However, the difference is knowing that you must persevere because on the other side of tumult and despair is often success and joy. Remember that, as bad as you think things are, they could be worse, so never give up.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
The foundation of a fruitful life requires that you give respect, earn trust, and stay consistent.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel at peace during those brief quiet moments, early in the morning, with no noise. Those moments when you have can take time to reflect and show gratitude regardless of how busy you are, and then you realize how blessed you are to be given another day to try to be the best version of yourself.
