Hi Terry, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a Disabled Veteran-turned-contractor who built Lewis Pro Finish on the belief that craftsmanship, integrity, and reliability should never go out of style — and I’m here to finish every project the way it deserves to be finished: the Pro Finish way!
I’ve founded other local businesses throughout the years including another home improvement company and a car rental business. My first business started in middle school, selling candy out of my backpack!
Before I went “all in” into entrepreneurship, I worked sales and management for a B2B company as the Branch Manager with over 2.5 Mil under management.
I always knew I would get into business growing up.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Its never a smooth road!!
My first major business success, Baxter Family Home Improvement, eventually failed because a big GC client of ours stuck us for a 6 figure amount which destroyed BFHI as well as another business. It took a couple years for us to rebound and eventually create Lewis Pro Finish.

We specialize in Residential remodeling, Commercial Tennent improvement/buildouts, and Minor projects/repairs/maintenance work.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Communication is everything
Craftsmanship means nothing without consistency
Not every client is your client
Systems matter more than hustle
I’ve learned that construction isn’t just about tools and materials — it’s about communication, consistency, reputation, and integrity. I learned that not every client is your client, that systems matter more than hustle, and that failure is really just part of the education. Most importantly, I learned that who you are outside the work shows up in the work. That’s why Lewis Pro Finish is built on craftsmanship, discipline, and honesty — because those are lessons I earned, not just beliefs I adopted.
