Hi Alexander, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve had a passion for basketball since I was young, playing throughout middle school and high school. When I received Christ in my mid-20s, I began seeking my true purpose. God gave me a vision to use basketball as a tool to reach and guide the youth with His Word. That vision became the foundation of Vice City Basketball Academy.
Through trusting in the Lord, He has opened the right doors and closed others and we would not be here today without His guidance. I wanted to bring the vision He placed in my heart to life: a place where young athletes can learn fundamental basketball skills while also developing strong core values such as discipline, teamwork, integrity, perseverance, respect, and faith.
At Vice City, we offer both skills training and a league where our athletes can continue to grow, challenge themselves, and put their training into practice. We strive to maintain a true family atmosphere a safe, encouraging space where every young athlete feels supported, valued, and inspired. What began in 2020 with just one child has continued to grow by God’s grace, and we remain committed to building not only skilled players but strong, grounded individuals.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many new programs, we faced challenges limited resources, building trust in the community, and learning how to grow step by step. But through hard work, dedication, and unwavering faith in God, we’ve been able to overcome each obstacle. Every setback became a lesson, and every challenge strengthened our foundation. By trusting in God’s timing and staying committed to the vision He gave us, our academy has continued to grow and impact more young athletes each year.

At Vice City Basketball Academy, we offer elite skill development, competitive leagues, summer camps, and a fun, faith-based environment where kids can truly thrive. We serve families in West Kendall, Westchester, and Pinecrest, offering professional coaching rooted in prayer, character-building, teamwork, and strong core values.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is when my mom bought me a small basketball hoop. I used to set it up and spend hours dunking on it, imagining I was playing in a real game. That hoop sparked my love for basketball and became the foundation for the passion I still have today.
