Exploring Life & Business with Hailu Jardines of Office Puzzle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailu Jardines.

Hi Hailu, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My professional background has always been rooted in business. After moving to Miami in 2012, I slightly changed my career and pursued a master’s degree in accounting at Florida International University, eventually earning my CPA license. Although my career began in a very traditional finance and accounting path, it ultimately set the foundation for what I do today. My journey with Office Puzzle really began as a family story. My brother Harold, an engineer, built a simple tool in 2018 to help his partner, now wife Lauren, who worked as an RBT (Registered Behavior Technician), deal with the overwhelming documentation demands in her ABA practice. It quickly turned into something much bigger, and her colleagues began asking to use it too.
As more people began using the tool, Harold and Lauren realized they had uncovered a much bigger problem than just documentation or scheduling. It was clear that many ABA providers were juggling outdated systems, constant compliance pressure, and tedious documentation. Significant time was being wasted on administrative tasks that could be automated or simplified with the right technology.
In 2020, realizing the potential, we rebranded as Office Puzzle and rebuilt the platform from the ground up to be more flexible and scalable. That’s when I officially joined the team, bringing my background in business and finance to help structure the company operationally and financially.
Since then, we’ve grown alongside our customers, helping ABA practices expand, improving our product, and expanding our team. Today, over 700 ABA practices use Office Puzzle, and we’re still just getting started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every challenge we’ve faced has shaped who we are today. One of the earliest hurdles was transitioning the original tool from a simple, practical solution built for one person into a platform capable of supporting the needs of entire ABA practices. That required rebuilding, rethinking the architecture, and making big decisions about when, and how fast, to scale. Building software that feels intuitive and user-friendly while also meeting rigorous security and regulatory standards is never easy. As the company grew, we also had to evolve from being a small project into a real organization with structure, processes, and a long-term strategy. Looking back, each obstacle ultimately pushed us to innovate, strengthen our foundation, and become a company we’re incredibly proud of today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Office Puzzle?
Office Puzzle is an all-in-one practice management platform built to help ABA providers run their operations more efficiently and with far less administrative strain. Because our company was born out of Lauren’s real experiences as an RBT and a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst), we’ve always built with a clear understanding of the challenges clinicians and administrators face every day. That foundation, paired with a commitment to affordability, transparent pricing, and a highly responsive support model, has positioned us as a partner rather than just another software vendor. We’re known for being user-friendly, intuitive, and grounded in real workflows, with features spanning scheduling, data collection, documentation, billing, payroll, and compliance. As we’ve grown, I’ve been particularly proud of the trust our brand has earned and the reputation we’ve built. Our goal is simple: help agencies operate smoothly, grow sustainably, and ultimately deliver better care. I want readers to know that Office Puzzle is designed to scale with them, to take work off their plate, and to empower their teams, whether they’re just starting out or expanding rapidly.

How do you define success?
To me, success is ultimately about impact, trust, and longevity. When a clinical director tells us their team feels less overwhelmed, or an owner shares that they can finally focus on care instead of paperwork, that’s success. It also means building something sustainable, a company with strong foundations that can support our users for the long term. And success is just as much about building relationships as it is about building software. When our customers see us as a dependable partner who understands their challenges and evolves alongside them, that’s when I know we’re on the right path. Success is a moving target; we grow, learn, and raise the bar as the industry changes, but as long as we’re making a positive, lasting difference in the lives of the people who provide care, we’re succeeding.
