Inspiring Conversations with Jorge Alamo of Dimelo Motion LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Alamo.

Hi Jorge, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Music has always been a huge part of my life. Since I was little, my dad would always play guitar to me and eventually bought me my first guitar when I got a bit older. In school, I began taking my first guitar class in the 6th grade and then eventually also participated in Orchestra where I played Violin 1 and then Cello. Later on in High school was where things got a little more serious. I began pondering what I wanted to do as a career and ended up stumbling upon music production. I then learned how to use music software on my computer to create my own beats everywhere I went; even in school. I would literally sit in the back of class with my laptop just making beats because by 11th grade, I already had all the credits I needed to graduate. Fresh out of high school in 2017, I moved to Winter Park, Fl, where I went to Full Sail University to pursue my career. Then, in the middle of the Corona Virus pandemic, I graduated Valedictorian in 2020 with my Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Music Production. This hit hard. See, I had met a studio owner back in high school who had offered me a position for when I graduated. I moved back to Miami and signed a lease for a new apartment. When I reached out to the studio owner, he said he was sorry but he had to shut down and move to Tampa because of the pandemic. This is where I think the universe had its’ own plans because as I was literally reading the newsflash, I received a notification from a friend I had met at Full Sail saying they were looking for interns at Rebel 11 Studios in Doral. I immediately sent my resume and called. To my surprise, they asked me to come in that same day and was hired on spot. I did my time serving coffee and taking the trash out, doing runs and cleaning the studios and eventually, I began taking on sessions as an Assistant Engineer. By 2021, I was already starting to take on recording sessions directly with artists. One of my first big sessions was with Bizarrap where I worked with him and Tiago PZK for his session #48. Fast forward to today, I have over 3 billion streams summing all the songs that I’ve worked on and an extensive list of clients that I continue working with to this day. I am very grateful for everyone who has helped me along the way and for my family for always supporting me even through very hard times.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
A big obstacle has been learning how to maneuver within this industry as a professional business. At first, I had no clue what I had signed up for. I was just a kid trying to make music. Today, I have my registered LLC and am involved daily with making Invoices, sending emails, filling paperwork and splits, managing bookings, recording, mixing, mastering, beat-making, production and the list goes on. I always try to continue being a student of the game in order to keep growing and evolving.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a professional music producer/audio engineer who works directly with music studios, artists, and labels in order to achieve different goals within the music industry. Clients hit me up all the time to get their songs recorded at the studio. I’m the one who will lock in the booking with the studio, then work with the client 1 on 1 to get a finished song by the end of our session. I then offer mixing and mastering services to the clients which I get done in my own time and use client feedback to achieve the sound they are looking for. Others hit me up to just send them beats and some artists want the whole package. Whatever it is, I can get it done and if I physically can’t, then I definitely know a guy who can.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I think taking risks has to always be measured out. I wouldn’t put something on the line that could tarnish my whole reputation or career. But if the opportunity is right, then I will definitely take the leap. Knowing when to make the right call is very important.
