Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucia Scarampi.
Hi Lucia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Food has always been my passion, born and raised in Italy to a famkly that would home cook every meal, however I was never the cooking person. I felt very unconfident in the kitchen and as much as I loved eating good and healthy food, i struggled to cook it myself. That was until my daughter was born, and had to get my act together to feed her and consequently all my family (then came her brother 1.5 years after). My daughter was also a foodie, she has always been obsessed with food, but sometimes in a very disregulated way, meaning it wasn’t about hunger but about fomo. At age 2 she started showing eczema signs on her skin ans started impacting her sleep, her nervous system, her lifestyle (heat triggers and we live in Miami!) and all doctors were only reccomending topical creams over creams and potrntialky cortisone/steroids (which I never ventured). I knew I had to find a better solution to that. So in the meantime as my son was also born, I decided to stop working, and focus on my kids for a while. Cooking became a huge part of my days as I was trying to have my kids eat as healthy as possible, along with my husband and I. I was learning to cook and I was teaching how to coom to my kids as well. Cooking together helped so much co-regulate my daughter and I, it was not anymore tantrum on what to eat and how much but it was anout sharing a moment together, and teaching about what we were preparing- the ingredients. As I continued my journey in learning how to cook myself and trying tk heal my daughter’s eczema with food- at that point I was convinced it was a gut issue (although no doctor had ever mentioned), Gen-Foodies was created with a mission to share the healthy & simple (cause I need things to be fast and simple) for kids & family. It really all started as a way to share what I was learning with all other parents, when I was working full time I didnt have time to focus as much on all the food aspectnof our family, but now I relize how important it is. In the meantime as I tested my daughter’s microbiome and realized her gut was inflamed, I recently completed a three month gut reset and healed her eczema. I’ve become very passionate about gut health and I am currently studying to become a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and expert in Gut Health. So when I will be certified, Gen-Foodies will become a space where I can also help families and coach them to better understand the importance of nutrition, by simplifying things and bringin advice, tips & hacks on how to optmize their cooking for an anti-inflammatory living.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never smooth, but if you are passionate it will take you to where you want to go. I never thought my childhood sorrounded by food and homecooking, would have had such an incredible impact on me as a mom. And I am so grateful to be able to help other families discover what I have, because no one teaches us about nutrition, or to our kids, yet it is the pillar to good health!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am the creator of Gen-Foodies, a brand that was born from my personal journey of learning to cook and heal through food. I grew up in Italy eating home-cooked meals every day, but I never felt confident in the kitchen. That changed when my daughter developed eczema at age two. I decided to learn everything I could about food, gut health, and simple cooking in order to support her. As I experimented, tracked her meals, and adjusted ingredients, I discovered that nourishing food could calm her inflammation, improve her sleep, and regulate her emotions. Cooking together also helped us connect in a deeper way, and it became a tool for co-regulation and bonding.
Gen-Foodies is my way of sharing what I learned as a mother, not as a chef. I focus on simple, anti-inflammatory ingredients that parents can actually use in daily life. I am passionate about showing that healthy eating does not need to be complicated or overwhelming. It can start with habits that support gut health and help children build a positive, curious relationship with food.
I am currently studying to become a Certified Holistic Nutritionist specializing in Gut Health. As I grow professionally, my goal is to guide families who want to feel more confident making nourishing choices at home. I want readers to know that Gen-Foodies is a space created by a mom who learned by doing and is now dedicated to helping others turn everyday cooking into a form of healing, connection, and long-term wellness.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
As parents we are expected to nourish a family, yet most of us were never shown how to do it in a way that truly supports our children’s development, behavior, and health. Many of us feel overwhelmed in the kitchen, and I went through that myself. I want to help bridge that gap by showing families how to choose ingredients with intention, how to cook simply but with purpose, and how food can support both gut health and emotional well-being.
As I complete my certification as a Holistic Nutritionist and Health Coach specializing in Gut Health, my goal is to bridge the gap between microbiome testing and real, practical support at home. I will be offering educational tools, personalized guidance for families, and realistic kitchen support that makes healthy cooking achievable. I also plan to create cooking experiences for children, including mommy-and-me classes, so parents and kids can bond, build confidence, and develop a positive relationship with food together.
Gen-Foodies will continue to grow into a space where families feel supported, understand the “why” behind food choices, and create habits that bring comfort, connection, and happiness to the table.
