Today we’d like to introduce you to Geydis Lambarri.
Hi Geydis, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey in the applied behavior analysis (ABA) field began over 6 years ago when I started working in ABA therapy operations. What began as a single role quickly became a passion for helping ABA practices strengthen their systems, especially in South Florida, amid rising fraud in the industry. As I gained experience, I noticed a significant gap: many ABA and healthcare providers were flooded with information, whether from insurance companies, Medicaid, or other ABA providers, which led to a lack of clear guidance on what is acceptable and what could risk your practice.
That’s what sparked the opening of Helping Hands Training and Consulting. I wanted to build a company that didn’t just offer compliance, credentialing, and consulting services to ABA providers but also empowered them through education, including billing training, workshops, and compliance guidance.
Today, Helping Hands Training and Consulting supports ABA providers across Florida, providing everything from Medicaid and commercial insurance enrollment to billing education and consultation. We have also expanded our services to include a self-paced ABA therapy billing course so we can provide ABA billing education beyond Florida. It has been a long journey, but a worthwhile one as I have the opportunity to network and build friendships with passionate, dedicated ABA providers. Since I started 6 years ago, I have further developed my skills, pursued certifications, and am finishing an MBA degree.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The ABA therapy industry in Florida is constantly changing due to regulatory healthcare policies. This year alone, many Florida ABA providers have dealt with Medicaid changes as the program transitioned to managed care, and, unfortunately, many were not prepared for them. The changes resulted in greater insurance security and increased compliance requirements. One aspect I noticed is that the managed care change showed me how unprepared many providers were to confront the fact that they were providing healthcare services and were unfamiliar with communicating with insurance companies, network enrollment, and staff credentialing.
And that was this year alone, throughout my journey, I had to teach myself through hands-on experience, insurance research, and trial and error. That learning curve was tough, but it’s also what inspired me to create training programs and resources so other providers don’t have to go through the same struggle.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My entire professional career has been rooted in ABA therapy. I first entered the field in 2017 as a behavior assistant and later became a Registered Behavior Technician in 2018. Very early on, I realized that while I loved the field, my strengths and interests were much more aligned with the administrative and operational side of ABA. That same year, I transitioned into an office manager role for a Hialeah-based ABA practice, and from there, I continued expanding my experience across multiple agencies, handling operations, credentialing, billing, and compliance.
Over the years, I committed myself to professional development and continuing education. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Supervision and Management from Miami Dade College and am currently completing my Master of Business Administration at Florida National University. I also pursued industry-recognized certifications, including CMRS, CBCO, and RCMS, and became a member of both the American Medical Billing Association (AMBA) and the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). These credentials reinforce my dedication to staying current, knowledgeable, and aligned with best practices in healthcare administration and revenue cycle management.
Through Helping Hands Training & Consulting, I focus not only on supporting ABA providers but also on educating them. I’m proud that our company doesn’t just do the work; we teach agency owners, billers, and administrators how to understand their responsibilities, strengthen their operations, and maintain ethical and compliant practices.
What truly sets us apart from other consulting or credentialing companies is our exclusive focus on ABA therapy. Whether we are providing billing training, operational guidance, or mock audits, everything we do is centered around helping ABA practices thrive with integrity, efficiency, and a strong foundation for long-term success.
How do you think about luck?
I believe luck has played a role in my journey, but not in the traditional sense. I don’t feel like success just happened to me; most of what I have built has come from preparation, persistence, and taking opportunities even when they felt uncomfortable or challenging. But I do acknowledge that I have had moments of good luck that shaped my path. For example, being introduced to the ABA field early in my career was something I never planned for, but it became the foundation of my entire professional career. That unexpected opportunity completely changed my direction and opened the door to everything I’m doing today.
