Inspiring Conversations with Max Bratter of Task Troopers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Max Bratter.

Hi Max, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my engineering career in the second grade, joining my elementary school robotics team. I competed with my school through elementary, middle, and now high school where I compete on my High School VEX VRC Robotics Team (4154S). I have always been interested in everything STEM related, whether that is robotics, technology, or otherwise. As far back as I can remember, I have wanted to learn everything I can about technology, and I am my family’s go to person for tech support. Last August, after my grandma was continuously asking me for help with her tech, I thought about the countless other grandparents who need tech support, and whose families might not be able to (or want to) help them. That’s when Task Troopers was born. Since then, we have expanded, and now provide fast, free tech support to anyone who needs it. We also recently launched the Task Troopers Free Laptop Program, headed by VP Nolan Arias, providing free laptops to students in need.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like with any company or organization, there are always challenges. As an engineer, I have learned to push through and come up with viable solutions. At the beginning, Task Troopers had some small bumps in the road. Simple things like coming up with a name (trust me there were a bunch of different names we looked at) and choosing a phone number. We, of course, have had some larger issues as well. When we first launched the Free Laptop Program (FLP), we couldn’t find anyone who wanted laptops! We since partnered with other nonprofit organizations that have helped to spread the word, and now we have donated almost 50 laptops (and counting). We also struggled to find “clients” to provide our free tech support to. We tried everything from online marketing to paper business cards! I learned from my past mistakes, and continue to teach my staff to do the same so that Task Troopers as a whole can continue to grow.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Task Troopers is a nonprofit organization based in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida that provides fast free tech support to anyone who needs it. Task Troopers is run entirely by teenagers. Our entire staff is in High School and my staff and I do everything from building the website to manning the phones, and from running marketing campaigns to providing tech support. Our organization aims to provide anyone in the country with fast, free tech support over the phone, through email, social media DM, live chat, and more. Additionally, we recently launched the Task Troopers Free Laptop Program, that provides access to free laptops for students in the country. We prepare the laptops with quick access to Task Troopers Tech Support and give each student a functional computer that was donated to our organization from other businesses and individuals. I want readers to know that anyone and everyone should have the ability to get tech support quickly and safely, and that is our mission. We are happy to help anyone who needs it – just give us a call!

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love Miami for it’s vibrant nightlife, amazing food, and fun activities. As an engineer, I absolutely LOVE the Brightline and am a huge fan – I make sure to ride it whenever I can. Sometimes Miami can have some crazy traffic, and driving in the city is not my favorite thing to do!
