Today we’d like to introduce you to Giovanna Stolte.
Giovanna , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my business in 2021, it started as a hobby during covid and then turned into my full time job. I always had a passion for creating unique pieces, whether it be clothes, painting, sewing, or beading. It has always been a dream to open a storefront and here I am one year into owning my dream space.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have learned so much from owning my own business, especially when everything is done by one person. I seriously learn new things everyday, whether it’s planning events, hosting private parties or social media algorithm. There are always obstacles but when you are the owner and creator you will go above and beyond to make sure it’s a success. It’s definitely not a career choice if your afraid of failing because honestly you will have more failures than wins, but that just makes the successes so much sweeter.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love this question. I really enjoy making custom jewelry for my customers. It’s so nice to bring back the closeness that we have lost with mass produced items. I love getting to talk with each person and understand what they are looking for in a custom necklace or accessory. Every single custom order teaches me so much and expands my skill to new heights. I also really love hosting workshops at my store for the local community, I have made so many friends through these events, and it’s really special to sit and create anything with like minded souls.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
The first thing that came to my mind was experiencing a Betsey Johnson store for the first time. When I look at my business today I see how much this memory has shaped my outlook on creating and the fashion world. Betsey has such an iconic and unique perspective that I had never seen before, there was something so groundbreaking about her pieces that made my mind wander into a new place. I don’t think I would have found my personal style without seeing her creations. Each piece is so special and out of the box it really inspired me to see someone working with so much pattern, color and texture. I think that has influenced my perspective and I learned that fashion is so much more than clothes, it’s an experience and a way to present your soul to the world.
