Meet Erin Copelan of Wilton Manors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Copelan.

Hi Erin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I didn’t grow up thinking I’d be a massage therapist. Massage came to me as a second career, during a time in my life when I needed a change and a time when I really wanted to help people. I almost became a nurse; but blood and broken bones really aren’t my thing. After researching for months and months, I just kept coming back to massage. A growing industry that not only helped people, but was a HAPPY business.

One of the reasons I loved the idea of massage was that I could have my own practice, and have as much flexibility and freedom as I wanted (ahhh, the dreams of a wanna-be entrepreneur!) It turns out that my intuition was spot on because my husband was diagnosed with liver cancer and when all other treatments failed, he needed a life-saving liver transplant. My caregiving experience challenged me but also reshaped me in ways textbooks can’t teach. I was no longer just looking to force a muscle to release, instead I was approaching life from a softer place, a place that knew people needed a place to feel safe, decompress, and more connected to themselves.

Today, my practice focuses on women who are on their perimenopause journey. I blend technical skill with empathy and a little bit of energetic magic. These women understand what stress and unresolved emotion can do to the body and they want someone who can see beyond the surface to co-create a healing experience with them.

The road has been twisty and sometimes bumpy, but it has led me to the exact place I’m supposed to be.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well, I walked right into that next question didn’t I? Ha! None of it has been EASY. Entrepreneurship isn’t easy. It can be fun and inspiring and fulfilling, but it also takes hours and energy and faith.

Balancing being a licensed massage therapist and being the sole caregiver for my husband took some Tetris-style finagling, with my time, finances, and energy. But we’ve made it to the other side, in mostly one piece! (And I even wrote a best-selling book in the process!).

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In the simplest terms, I help people feel human again (that’s one of my favorite client testimonials!). I’m a licensed massage therapist, but my work goes way beyond “relaxation” or “get this knot out.” I’m known for my trifecta of intuition, knowledge of anatomy, and emotional awareness that I bring into every session. People tell me all the time that I somehow find the exact spot they didn’t even realize was tight — and then somehow also help them breathe easier in their life, not just their body.

What sets me apart? Honestly, it’s my lived experience. Being a caregiver for so many years changed the way I see people. I understand what chronic stress does to a body. I understand what it’s like to show up in a room exhausted but hopeful. I understand how much it means to feel seen without having to explain yourself.

Massage is my craft, but holding space is my art. And I take a lot of pride in creating space, even if it’s only an hour out of my client’s day, where they get to finally exhale. To me, that’s magic, and it’s what keeps clients coming back year after year.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
People are always surprised to find out how adventurous I am outside the treatment room. I’ve gone diving with sharks, I’ve jumped out of a perfectly good airplane, and I will absolutely plan an entire trip around one incredible meal. I’m a total foodie (and yes, also a little bougie). Give me champagne and caviar and I’m in my element.

Here’s something no one expects: I’m not just the calm, grounding presence you meet on the massage table. I’m also a confident public speaker who can get on a stage, hold a room, and deliver a message with heart, humor, and clarity. People assume I’m quiet because I’m a massage therapist… but hand me a microphone and I’m fully alive! (It’s my Leo rising!)

There are a lot of facets to me: adventurous, soft, bold, intuitive, outspoken, nurturing, and I can even be a tiny bit extra. If given the chance, I will surprise and delight you. xoxo
