Today we’d like to introduce you to Landysh Ivanova.
Hi Landysh, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story with flowers began sixteen years ago — back then, it was just a job. But flowers have a special way of changing people’s moods. I saw how a simple bouquet could make someone smile, bring comfort, or say what words couldn’t. And slowly, I realized this wasn’t just work — it became part of who I am.
When I moved to New York, I wanted to bring a bit of warmth and beauty into this fast and sometimes overwhelming city — to share something personal through my flowers and designs. I wanted my arrangements to feel alive, thoughtful, and full of heart.
I love when people come to us with stories — about love, friendship, or even loss — and we help them express it through flowers. That connection, that moment when someone’s eyes light up, is what keeps me inspired every single day.
Ruscus Flowers is more than a flower shop. It’s a space built on warmth, care, and human connection — a little reminder of how much beauty lives in this busy city.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been an easy road. When we first started, the hardest part for me was the language. I came to New York with almost no English, and every step — from talking to landlords to signing contracts — felt like a small mountain to climb.
But even without words, I had something that never failed me — experience and intuition. After years of working with flowers and people, I learned to feel rather than speak — to sense what my customers wanted, even when I couldn’t explain it. I’ve always tried to give a little piece of myself with every bouquet I create, and I still do. That quiet ability to connect through warmth and flowers became my greatest strength.
Of course, the flower business itself is full of challenges. We work with something alive and delicate; equipment breaks, seasons shift, and every day brings new surprises. But each obstacle has taught me resilience, gratitude, and grace. And seeing the joy on someone’s face when they receive our flowers — that always reminds me why I chose this path.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Ruscus Flowers is a creative flower studio based in Manhattan’s historic Flower District. We design modern, heartfelt arrangements for everyday life, weddings, and events — each bouquet made with warmth, intention, and care.?
Our flower studio, Ruscus Flowers, is based in Manhattan’s historic Flower District. We create modern floral arrangements for every occasion — from everyday bouquets to weddings, events, and corporate designs. Each piece is thoughtfully composed to reflect emotion and atmosphere rather than just decoration.
What sets us apart is our philosophy. We don’t treat flowers as products — we see them as a language of warmth and connection. Every client has their own story, and our role is to translate it into flowers. Whether it’s a simple bouquet or a large event, we approach each order with the same care and attention to detail.
I’m most proud of what Ruscus Flowers has become — a space that grew from the heart, built with hard work, love, and belief in beauty. Many of our clients come back again and again, and that trust means everything to us.
I want readers to know that Ruscus Flowers isn’t just about flowers — it’s about feeling. We bring warmth, authenticity, and modern aesthetics into people’s lives through design. From weddings to small gestures of love, we help people express what words sometimes can’t.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that everything takes time — especially trust. Building something meaningful doesn’t happen overnight. It takes patience, courage, and the willingness to act even when things feel uncertain.
I’ve learned that progress is made step by step — not by waiting for perfect conditions, but by doing, learning, and moving forward. Ruscus Flowers is still at the beginning of its journey, and we’re growing every day. This path teaches me to stay patient, to believe in what I’m building, and to keep creating with heart.
