Life & Work with Kacey Anais Holbrooke of Miramar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kacey Anais Holbrooke.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up helping my mom with her late-night cake and dessert orders back in Jamaica, so being in the kitchen always felt familiar to me. During COVID, I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to take, so I decided to start Cookies and Crumbs as a creative outlet while I was home. I began by offering only custom sugar cookies. As the business grew, I expanded my menu to include a variety of chocolate-covered treats and other custom desserts.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There were times when I felt unmotivated, especially while trying to finish university and still grow my business and clientele. Balancing daily life challenges while running a small business is tough on its own, but doing it while maintaining a full-time job added even more pressure. Still, each challenge pushed me to stay disciplined and keep building Cookies and Crumbs.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create custom sugar cookies, chocolate-covered treats, and personalized desserts for all types of celebrations. I’m known for my clean, detailed designs and my ability to turn a client’s idea into something unique and memorable. I’m most proud of how much my skills have grown over the years and how I’ve been able to expand my menu. What sets me apart is the level of care, precision, and consistency I put into every single order.

How do you think about luck?
I wouldn’t call it luck—God has played a huge role in my life and business. I’ve been blessed with opportunities and guidance, especially when starting and growing my business. At the same time, challenges like balancing school, work, and expanding my clientele have tested my perseverance. Through it all, I’ve learned to trust His plan, stay adaptable, and keep working hard.
