Today we’d like to introduce you to Brent Sudeck.
Hi Brent, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey to becoming the CEO of a cybersecurity firm began long before the term cybersecurity was mainstream — back in high school at Florida Air Academy, a military school where discipline met personal growth. One of my very first classes was computer science, and it was 1994 — the days of MS-DOS, floppy disks, and Microsoft Works, the early ancestor of Office. Something clicked instantly. I loved the logic, the problem-solving, the challenge of making something work with just a few lines of code. Every new DOS command felt like unlocking a secret language. That early spark lit a fire that never went out.
When I went on to the University of Miami, I found my tribe — a group of equally obsessed tech enthusiasts who spent late nights building computers, experimenting with early networks, and trying to make machines talk to each other. When it finally worked, it felt like witnessing magic. That feeling — the thrill of creating connection — still fuels me today.
After college, I started my professional journey in Boca Raton at an educational software and library automation company. I built turnkey networks for schools and libraries and supported the systems that kept them running. It wasn’t glamorous work, but it was real. I saw how much people depended on technology to learn, to communicate, to grow. That experience grounded me in the “why” behind everything I do — technology is only meaningful when it empowers people.
Then came the dream job. I joined CBS SportsLine, the first company to bring sports to the internet — and for a tech guy in the late ‘90s, that was the big leagues. As Senior IT Administrator, I was part of a team supporting a 24/7 enterprise of more than 500 employees. It was intense, fast-paced, and wildly innovative. It taught me how to operate at scale, how to think in real time, and how to stay calm when everything depended on uptime.
From there, I transitioned into IT consulting, working with hundreds of companies around the world. Each client brought a new puzzle to solve — from designing complex infrastructures to securing sensitive data and keeping businesses running through constant change. Over time, cybersecurity stopped being a side note and became the mission. As threats evolved, so did I. I wanted to do more than fix problems — I wanted to prevent them.
After earning the CISSP and CCSP certifications — two of the most rigorous in the field — I decided to take the leap and create TrustPoint Cyber. I built it to help businesses navigate a world where digital threats grow faster than awareness. My goal wasn’t just to provide technology solutions, but to educate, empower, and protect.
At my core, I’m still that kid in the computer lab — endlessly curious, excited by innovation, and motivated by the human side of technology. Today, through TrustPoint Cyber, I get to help companies defend what they’ve built, safeguard their reputations, and sleep better at night knowing they’re protected.
Cybersecurity isn’t just about systems — it’s about trust. And that’s what I’ve dedicated my career to building.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When it comes to cybersecurity, there’s no such thing as a smooth road. Every day brings a new curveball — a fresh exploit, a new adversary, or a twist no one saw coming. But honestly, that’s what keeps me hooked. At its core, this work is about solving puzzles under pressure — balancing logic, intuition, and calm when everything is on the line.
I’ve always positioned myself as the person where the buck stops. When a client faces a technical or security crisis, I take that responsibility personally. I don’t rest until the problem is solved. I’m not just an advisor behind a screen — I’m shoulder-to-shoulder with them in the fight, guiding every move until the systems are secure and the lights are back on.
The challenges in this field change on a case-by-case basis. I’ve worked with clients across industries as varied as aviation, global logistics, law, real estate, and healthcare — each with its own unique regulations, compliance requirements, and mission-critical systems. I’ve partnered directly with the FBI to recover data tied to national security interests, and in several cases, I’ve helped clients save millions in potential ransom payments, data loss, and operational downtime.
Cybersecurity, to me, is an infinite race. Even when we find a solution, someone somewhere is already working on a way around it. It’s a constant chess match — part science, part strategy, part adrenaline. Some days, it feels like an action movie: hackers versus the good guys, with businesses, reputations, and livelihoods hanging in the balance.
I’ve guided companies through full-scale ransomware attacks that froze operations and threatened their survival. In those moments, the work goes beyond technology. It becomes about leadership — staying composed when everything around you is chaos, and helping others do the same.
But as much as I thrive in crisis, my passion is prevention. Every success story starts long before the attack — in education, strategy, and preparation. My goal is to help businesses understand cybersecurity not as a cost, but as a cornerstone of trust and resilience.
The truth is, this industry never stands still — and that’s what makes it extraordinary. Every new obstacle is an opportunity to learn, evolve, and protect something that truly matters. And for me, that’s the best kind of challenge there is.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
TrustPoint Cyber, headquartered in Palm Beach County, Florida, is a full-service cybersecurity firm safeguarding clients across the U.S. and around the globe. The mission is simple but vital: defend what businesses value most — productivity, reputation, and peace of mind.
TrustPoint advises organizations on cybersecurity best practices, regulatory compliance, vulnerability testing, and advanced threat defense. Each engagement is designed around a single objective — building resilient, layered systems capable of withstanding both today’s threats and tomorrow’s unknowns.
What sets TrustPoint apart is its unmatched depth and adaptability. The firm combines elite in-house expertise with strategic partnerships that reach across all different cyber skillsets. From agile startups to global enterprises, TrustPoint designs cybersecurity and IT ecosystems that grow with the business. Many of its clients have scaled from early-stage ventures to enterprises with thousands of employees — supported by the secure infrastructure TrustPoint built from day one.
Trust isn’t just part of the company name — it’s the foundation of everything. Clients know that regardless of the challenge, TrustPoint will stand with them. Prevention is always the goal, but when businesses call in crisis, the firm mobilizes immediately — restoring systems, securing data, and guiding leaders through recovery with clarity and confidence. That relentless commitment allows business owners to focus on growth, innovation, and opportunity instead of fear.
A recent milestone that captures that vision is TrustPoint’s partnership with former Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg. The firm now provides dedicated cybersecurity expertise to his clients — a collaboration built on shared values of accountability, integrity, and protection in a digital-first world.
At its core, TrustPoint Cyber isn’t just about securing networks. It’s about empowering businesses to operate boldly and fearlessly — knowing that someone is always standing guard, defending their future before threats ever reach the door.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Networking is the heartbeat of cybersecurity. At its core, this industry runs on trust — and the strongest referrals come from clients who’ve experienced firsthand how TrustPoint Cyber has protected their organizations. Word of mouth continues to be one of the most powerful drivers of our growth, because trust isn’t something you advertise — it’s something you earn.
Beyond professional connections, showing up for the community has been just as meaningful. Supporting local organizations, participating in charity events, and helping nonprofits strengthen their own digital defenses has allowed me to build relationships in an authentic, purpose-driven way. People want to work with those who genuinely care, and that commitment to service reflects who we are — both as professionals and as neighbors.
In the coming months, I’ll be hosting educational sessions for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, focusing on how nonprofits can protect themselves from evolving cyber threats. It’s an issue close to my heart — ensuring that the organizations doing the most good in our communities are also safeguarded from digital harm.
Mentorship is another passion of mine. I regularly work with individuals who are curious about cybersecurity and remind me of the kid I once was — fascinated by how technology connects people and driven to learn how to protect it. There’s something incredibly rewarding about watching that same spark ignite in someone else. Helping the next generation of cybersecurity professionals grow isn’t just important — it’s essential to the future of the field.
At the same time, I believe great leaders never stop being students. Throughout my career, I’ve learned as much from peers, industry colleagues, and even clients as I have from formal training. In a field that evolves daily, staying ahead means surrounding yourself with people who are informed, curious, and collaborative.
Recently, I attended the Black Hat and DEFCON Cybersecurity Conferences in Las Vegas, the largest gatherings of cybersecurity experts in the world. It was inspiring to connect with researchers, ethical hackers, and innovators working on the front lines of this digital arms race. The takeaway was clear — the battle against cybercrime is too vast for anyone to fight alone. Collaboration, transparency, and shared knowledge are the keys to staying ahead of attackers.
That philosophy guides everything I do. Whether mentoring young professionals, advising small business owners, or helping IT teams strengthen their defenses, I see mentorship and networking as part of our shared responsibility. In cybersecurity, no one succeeds alone — and that’s exactly how we win.
