Daily Inspiration: Meet Chris White

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris White.

Hi Chris, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a Florida native born and raised in Boynton Beach. I’ve always had a deep love for the arts, especially music and design. I studied Graphic Design and Journalism at Florida A&M University, and right after college, I jumped straight into freelance design work.

Since 2008, I’ve been in the design industry, creating visuals that have reached audiences all over the world. I’ve had the privilege to design for amazing nationally known people, including artists like Tye Tribbett, Kim Burrell, Betty Wright, the Miami Mass Choir, Norman Hutchins, Duranice Pace, George “Spanky” McCurdy, and Papa San as well as Olympic Gold Medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee. One of my proudest projects was designing a book cover for Wilkinson E.C.C., which was dedicated and endorsed by LeBron James himself for Black History Month.

Alongside design, I’ve been a musician since 2007 and a teacher for over a decade. For the past 11 years, I’ve taught in the award winning Commercial Arts Academy at SouthTech Academy High School in Boynton Beach. Every contest we’ve entered, whether local or statewide, we’ve taken home first place proof that creativity and hard work really do pay off.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Getting started in the industry I feel was the biggest challenge. I had to gain the trust of a few clients to begin to gain new opportunities via word of mouth.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a freelance Graphic Designer, a Certified Graphic Design and Commercial Arts Teacher at SouthTech Academy in Boynton Beach and a Musician and Producer. I have an R&B band that goes by the name Salon B and we have played for national recording artists such as Eve and Tiffany Evans (Promise Ring Feat. Ciara). All of my services are under my company named Seven FX Creative. Being under one LLC allows me to offer such a broad range of creative services all under one umbrella. I believe my range is what sets me apart. I am most proud that I can perform all of these creative services at such a high level.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I always try to surround myself with not only like-minded people but also those who are more experienced than me. I don’t like being the smartest person in the room; I enjoy being the student. Never stop learning, and you will make valuable connections.
