Hi Susan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Pet Travel was founded in 1998 by a gentleman named Jerry who loved to travel with his Shih Tzu, but had difficulty finding a pet friendly hotel that would accept his pup. PetTravel.com started a database of inns, bed and breakfasts and hotels that accepted pets. After years in service, we realized that very little information was available for pets traveling internationally, so we evolved into that space and became experts in the international movement of pets. In 2011, our sister company, Pet Travel Transport, was founded to address the need for pet parents who could not travel with their pets.
Today, we can move pets via ground (US), air or private jet charter all over the world. In this age of mobility, pet owners do not want to leave their pets behind when they vacation, travel or relocate. Pet Travel Transport can get their pet to them safely and comfortably.
Our international services include pick up and delivery, kenneling, veterinary visits, equipment provision, documentation verification and endorsement, airline booking and more. Our location in South Florida also provides us the capability to meet demand for Caribbean and South American destinations.
Our ground services include door-to-door pick up and delivery, private or shared transport, small vehicles tailored to pets, frequent walks, kitty condos, expedited trips and lots of communication along the way. We make the trip fun for everyone.
We are USDA Class H handlers meeting and exceeding Animal Welfare Act standards for the humane care, treatment and transportation of pets. We are also long-standing members of the International Pet and Animal Transport Association.
Most of all, we are all animal lovers and are passionate about what we do. To reunite a pet with its family is so gratifying. They are simply precious beings, a part of their family, and we treat them as if they were a part of ours.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always challenges when transporting a pet. Our objectives are to reduce the anxiety pet owners feel when separated from their pet, and to deal with every pet’s special needs during transport. There are so many details that must be addressed, especially with international relocations. Our experience in pet transportation arena really helps ease everyone’s stress level.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a woman owner of both Pet Travel and Pet Travel Transport. I have been in the pet transport business for over 20 years, and I am proud of my record serving owners of traveling pets. Our website has pet import regulations for over 220 countries and airline pet policies for over 150 airlines. We are authorities in the field of pet transportation, and our experience provides both assurance and confidence with our clients.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters to all of us all at Pet Travel Transport is the trust that our clients put in us to drive or fly their pet safely over long distances. We work hard to educate pet owners as to what is entailed in relocating a pet so we do not violate this trust. We believe that, no matter how difficult it is for the company or for the client, transparency regarding the process and adhering to regulations is a priority.
