Hidden Gems: Meet Patrick Alexander of Hypochlora

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Alexander.

Hi Patrick, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Patrick Alexander, and I didn’t stumble into Hypochlora — my life built it.

I didn’t grow up thinking I’d be a biotech founder. I wasn’t the most popular kid, the smartest student, or the one with every advantage. What I did have was hunger, curiosity, and a belief that if I outworked everyone, life would open doors.

Sports were my first teacher. I was quiet, insecure, and unsure of myself, but competition gave me purpose. My grandfather saw something in me before I saw it in myself. He told me, “You’re wise beyond your years and see people differently.” That stuck. I didn’t know it then, but understanding people, their needs, their pain, their insecurities would later become the foundation of Hypochlora.

I earned my way into Division I athletics at Liberty University. I finally felt seen and then, in one moment, it was gone. A ligament tear took me off the field, and when your identity has been your body and your grit, losing that feels like losing yourself. Grades dropped. I fell into bad habits. Eventually I found myself on academic probation, sent home while everyone else moved forward.

That was the first death of my ego. And the beginning of my purpose.

At my great-grandmother’s 80th birthday, I looked around and realized time doesn’t wait. People disappear. Opportunities disappear. Life moves. I told my grandfather, “I’m going become a doctor.” He just smiled — “I believe in you.”

I returned to Liberty on probation, switching into one of the hardest majors on campus: Biomedical Science. I wasn’t the genius. But I was the hard-worker. I failed my first biology exam after studying harder than ever. It punched me in the chest. But instead of folding, I obsessed. My next exam was a pure 100.

That moment taught me the rule I build companies with today:
You don’t need to be the most gifted, you need to refuse to quit.

During my undergraduate microbiology work, I discovered something that changed me — hypochlorous acid. We tested solutions against fungi and bacteria, documented everything, backed every claim with peer-reviewed research. And here was this one molecule naturally produced by the human immune system that could do what entire medicine cabinets struggled to do:

Fight bacteria. Fight inflammation. Help skin heal. Be gentle, non-toxic, and incredibly effective.

It fascinated me. A single molecule that did everything better than the rest – clean, powerful, biologically perfect.

I didn’t know it then, but that spark would come back years later and become my life’s work.

I went on to a surgical internship, stood beside elite surgeons, and witnessed both miracles and tragedy including the loss of a four-year-old child in what was supposed to be a routine procedure. It etched something into me: people hurt, and the world needs more healing.

I later then unexpectedly built a career in finance in Manhattan at Emerald Capital. I learned why companies live or die, and later I helped more than 200 founders build their vision, earning a seat in rooms with names like Kendra Scott and Steve Wozniak from my own built consulting firm.

But my true calling arrived quietly in the form of a friend spraying her face.

I joked, “Why are you spraying chemicals on your skin?”
She handed me the bottle and it was hypochlorous acid.

Except it wasn’t what I knew it should be. It had additives, impurities, unstable pH, low ppm — everything that ruins HOCl’s natural power. It was a shortcut version of a miracle molecule. And I realized: people deserved better. The science deserved better.

So I built it.

At Hypochlora, we don’t add minerals or fillers. We control purity at every step, filtering and treating water before it ever touches our system. We let hypochlorous acid exist in its purest, most effective state — exactly how the human body intended it.

We’re not just a skincare brand. We’re a biotech wellness company building the world’s most trusted platform for hypochlorous across skin health, medical, beauty, personal care, and beyond.

Our mission is simple:
Be transparent. Be science-backed. And actually help people.

We have seen people get their lives back, from skin disorders that crushed their confidence and quality of life. And that’s why I know every setback, every failure, every painful moment in my story had a purpose.

I wasn’t meant to just succeed.
I was meant to build something that gives people back their confidence, their freedom, their skin, their life.

Hypochlora is not a brand.
It is a mission born from adversity, grounded in science, driven by purpose and built for the people who need it most.

And this is just the beginning.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not even close. But every challenge has shaped who I am and what Hypochlora stands for.

I’ve been told I don’t belong in business. I’ve been betrayed by people I once called friends. I’ve had deals fall apart, people walk away, and people tell me that selling a product like mine in this economy is impossible. But I’ve learned to stay grounded and ignore the noise, because I truly believe this is my purpose and that God is with me every step of the way.

From the start, nothing about this journey or my life has been easy. I lost my athletic career to injury, I failed classes I poured my heart into, and I had to rebuild my life from the ground up. Iv’e failed more times than people realize. That same resilience became the backbone of Hypochlora.

If adversity had a face, it would look a lot like my journey.

When I decided to launch the company, I put my own savings, my credit, and every dollar I had into building this brand from the ground up. I took risks most people wouldn’t, but I believed that if I stayed true to the science and to my vision, it would work.

I was stepping into an industry dominated by big names and marketing hype but I knew we had something real. I spent countless nights perfecting the science, making sure our hypochlorous acid was stable, and effective. No shortcuts, no fillers, no gimmicks just integrity and results.

When I started Hypochlora, it wasn’t just about building a skincare line, it was about building trust through science. That meant countless late nights, testing batches, adjusting ppm levels, filtering systems, and learning what it takes to stabilize hypochlorous acid without compromising purity. I refused shortcuts no additives, no fillers, which made everything harder and more expensive in the beginning. But that’s how you earn credibility.

There were moments when I questioned if it was worth it, when it felt like everything was against me. But every setback reminded me that purpose doesn’t come without pressure. Faith, discipline, and persistence carried me through.

So no, it hasn’t been smooth. But I’ve learned that smooth roads don’t make strong people. And I’d rather walk a rough road with purpose and faith than take the easy one that leads nowhere.

As you know, we’re big fans of Hypochlora. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Hypochlora is a biotech-inspired skincare and wellness brand built on transparency, purity, and purpose.

We specialize in hypochlorous acid (HOCl) a molecule the body naturally produces from our white blood cells as part of its own defense and renewal process. It’s gentle enough for the most sensitive skin yet effective in supporting balance and clarity. I first discovered its potential during my undergraduate microbiology work, studying how HOCl interacted with bacteria and fungi. Even back then, I was fascinated that one simple molecule could do so much without irritation or harsh chemicals.

Years later, when I realized how many products on the market used unstable formulas or unnecessary additives, I knew there was space for something truly clean. That realization became Hypochlora.

We start with complete filtered, treated water and maintain full control over purity before electrolysis. We don’t add fillers, fragrances, or unnecessary minerals. Just precision science. The result is a pure, stable formulation that supports the skin’s natural barrier and helps it stay visibly calm, clear, and comfortable.

What sets us apart is that our work speaks through real people. We’ve had customers who once relied on antibiotics & harsh topical treatments finally find comfort using Hypochlora. Parents share stories of five-month-old babies whose skin finally eased from eczema. And top dermatologists across the country have begun recommending our products to their patients who want gentle, science-driven care they can trust.

I’m most proud of that seeing lives touched not by marketing, but by something real.

Our goal is simple. To be the trusted source for hypochlorous innovation across skincare and wellness. We’re here to bring clarity, confidence, and clean science to everyone from medical professionals to everyday people looking for something that truly works in harmony with their skin.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Miami is its energy, it’s alive with movement, culture, and possibility. There’s something about this city that constantly pushes you to dream bigger. It’s where art, science, and ambition all meet, and that’s exactly the spirit behind Hypochlora. Miami is full of people who believe in innovation and aren’t afraid to take risks that mindset fits perfectly with what we’re building.

It’s also a place where beauty and wellness are part of the lifestyle. People here care about their skin, their confidence, and the products they use. That makes Miami the perfect home for a biotech-inspired brand like Hypochlora, because the community truly values authenticity and results.

If I had to say one thing I like least I’d probably just say the heat. It’s like walking into a sauna half the year! But even that inspires us. Our formulations are made to refresh and balance the skin after long, humid days. So in a way, the Miami heat became part of our story, too.

At the end of the day, Miami isn’t just where we are as well, it’s part of who we are as a brand. Bold, diverse, and always forward-moving.
