An Inspired Chat with Cecilia Franco of Houston

Cecilia Franco shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Cecilia, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Well I just move from Miami to Houston a couple of months ago has been a change but I’m finding joy in the little things like exploring the city, making new connections, and slowly making this new place feel like home.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Cecilia Franco Cecy, or This is Cecy on social media. I create lifestyle and photography content that blends creativity with real life moments. I love sharing self-care tips, style inspiration, and little joys from everyday life, all while connecting with my community usually with my dog Charlie keeping me company and always stealing the spotlight along the way!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think what often breaks bonds between people in relationships, family, or friendships… is a lack of honesty, commitment, or presence. Distance grows when we stop showing up with care, or when fear, ego, or avoidance replaces vulnerability. What restores those bonds is the opposite: honesty, consistency, and empathy. Even the smallest gestures really showing up with love, listening without judgment, and choosing to be real can heal what felt broken.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Many, many times!
Not long ago, I used to ask my best friend Carol, “Do you think one day we’ll wake up and all the bad days will feel so far away?” There were moments when I felt like giving up or simply not knowing what to do both professionally and personally. And that’s rare for me because I’m usually very determined, so feeling lost was unfamiliar. Between creative blocks, uncertainty, and navigating life changes away from my family, it all felt like too much at times. But having the right people around you makes all the difference. I’m so grateful for the friends who became family to me without them, I don’t think I’d be standing where I am today.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest misconceptions in my industry is that being a content creator, photographer, or artist isn’t considered a “real path” But in reality, it’s one of the most challenging, creative, and impactful paths out there. There’s so much that happens behind the scenes since planning, shooting, editing, negotiating, and storytelling. A single 30-second video or one polished photo can take hours to create and edit, yet the effort is often overlooked or underestimated.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I understand most deeply is empathy and the importance of helping others. In this industry, it’s not always easy to find genuine friendships sometimes it feels like people care more about what they can gain than truly connecting. But I’ve always been the opposite. I really believe in sharing what I know, supporting others, and giving back whenever I can. There’s space for everyone to shine, and I think life and this journey feels so much better when we lift each other up instead of competing.
