Rick Netzel & Christie Netzel’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Rick Netzel & Christie Netzel. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Rick & Christie, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
For Christie, it’s time in the studio making candles or jewelry. For me, Rick, it’s my workout time in the pool. Funny, Christie is in the Studio while I’m at the pool.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We are a husband and wife Radio show / Podcast co hosting a weekly syndicated radio/ Podcast show promoting everything that is, Palm Beach County. “Life in the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast with Rick and Christie” features interviews with some of the top leaders in the County. We have both been in the Hospitality industry a combined 80 years plus.

it’s been 6 years since our last interview and within that time period, we, along with everyone, endured a worldwide pandemic, which put our radio show, “Life in the Palm Beaches and Treasure
Coast with Rick and Christie”, on hiatus because of studio time. We made the decision to purchase our own podcast equipment and turn our dining room into a studio. Our thought behind that was that we would sell the show to a radio station. “Life in the
Palm Beaches and the Treasure Coast with Rick and Christie” was picked up by Money Talk Radio which had a larger listening audience than our previous station. A few months later, Money Talk Radio was purchased by The Oldies station. As of October 2023, the
Oldies Station sold off all of their AM affiliates and merged with a larger FM base with a potential listening audience of 6 million people, meaning we can be heard by the drive market in Florida.

With our equipment we are able to go mobile and record our shows on location. Some of those locations were the South Florida Fair, The Homewood Suites St. Louis Cardinal Spring Training rally, and in the courtyard of Rick’s property, The Best Western Palm
Beach Lakes. We have recorded from The Cox Science Center and Aquarium, Top Golf and Happy Hour at BJ Brewhouse.

Rick Netzel has been Director of Sales and Marketing for the Best Western Palm Beach Lakes, in West Palm Beach for 13 years, and Christie Netzel has been a Director of Sales for Brock Development at two of their Palm Beach Gardens properties, The Homewood Suites
Palm Beach Gardens and the recently opened Residence Inn Palm Beach Gardens. Christie has been with Brock Development for 14 years.

Christie is owner/ operator of “Song Scents” , a local Candle Company and Rick is the Marketing Manager and sits on the Board of the Palm Beach County attraction Association.

You can hear “Life in the Palm Beaches and the Treasure Coast with Rick and Christie” every Sunday morning from 8am to 9am on The Oldies Station or 95.3FM, 96.9FM, 95.9FM and 106.9FM and if you miss it, our shows are on the podcast tab of The Oldies Station
website, www.trueoldiesfla.com.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I remember the first time someone in public recognized my voice. It wasn’t a feeling of being powerful but more of wow, I’m Rick Netzel. I’m on the Radio and someone actually listens to me.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
In December 2024 I was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer. I have had chemo, surgery, (bladder and prostate removed,), and complications with infections. I have had 57 appointments in the year 2025 alone. It has been really hard on both Christie and I.

We have never made a penny on the show. We do it because we believe in what we do and are grateful for the platform. Nothing worth while is ever easy. The easy thing would be to quit and release the stress of producing a quality show every week.

Recently, a couple who listens to our show stopped by the Hotel I work at in West Palm Beach. They were not quests but they were shopping at the Outlets across the street. They stopped because they wanted to meet me. The man behind the voice. This is why I won’t give up.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
My wife is my best friend. We work in the same industry, know the same people and we do everything together. That why the Radio show/ Podcast works so well. We are the same in person as we are on air. It’s hard enough just being yourself let alone trying to be someone or something you’re not.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
It’s simple. Sitting on the couch with my wife and our 3 cats. That’s my family and it the most valuable thing to me.
