Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Gina Damato of Miami

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Gina Damato. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Gina, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
For me, integrity is the most important, both in business and in life. Integrity, matched with authenticity, is such a rare and invaluable combination in today’s world, but something I am known for. In the wedding industry especially, our clients are trusting us with some of the most meaningful moments of their lives. Without integrity, intelligence and energy lose their value, because the foundation of this work is trust. Integrity means being honest about what’s possible, transparent in communication, and dependable when challenges inevitably arise. It’s about doing the right thing even when no one’s watching. At Lucid Events, that’s what builds lasting relationships with our clients and vendors, and it’s what ensures every couple feels not only cared for, but genuinely respected.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Gina, Chief of Experiences here at Lucid Events — a Florida-based, award-winning wedding planning company known for turning bold visions into jaw-dropping realities. With 12 years of industry experience (including time at Disney and WeddingWire) and a client list that includes celebrities and global brands, We know exactly how to make magic happen. But more than anything, we pride ourselves on keeping it real with our couples from start to finish — and yes, we excel at parent recon as well (no extra charge).

Lucid Events specializes in unforgettable celebrations that are as custom, high-energy, and detail-obsessed as the couples they’re created for. From wild party vibes to elegant soirées, if you can dream it, Lucid brings it to life — clearly, flawlessly, and fabulously.

We’re giving Type A planning with Type B partying: we obsess over the details so you don’t have to, then make sure your celebration is unforgettable in all the best (and wildest) ways.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world was my own wedding. Experiencing the joy and togetherness of family and friends, and watching the magic unfold in an evening I had created, left a lasting imprint on me. Our theme was Alice in Wonderland, and it truly felt like a dream brought to life in broad daylight. That experience showed me how powerful weddings can be—not just as events, but as memories that shape people’s lives. It’s what inspired me to become a wedding planner, because I realized that creating moments that unforgettable can never be replaced.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be: ‘You have no idea how successful you’re going to be, little one.’ There were so many moments along the way where I doubted myself, but looking back, every challenge shaped the businesswoman and creative I’ve become. I’d remind her that her vision, her grit, and her heart would take her farther than she ever imagined.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the wedding industry tells itself is that weddings have to be perfect, that every detail has to be flawless, and that couples need to spend an arm and a leg for it to be meaningful. Of course, we aim for perfection and plan down to the finest details, but the truth is, the real magic is in the unscripted moments that happen outside the timeline. A glance between the couple, a laugh with family, a spontaneous dance…those are the memories people carry forever. At the end of the day, it’s not about pleasing everyone in the room, it’s about pleasing each other. Even if the night isn’t perfect, the fact that you’ve made it to this milestone together. That’s pretty perfect in itself.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
Yes, absolutely! ’m tap dancing to work every day. Our business is perfectly rated because we radiate passion and love in everything we do, and I think that joy shows in every wedding I have the honor of planning. This has been the most exciting opportunity of my career, and I don’t take it lightly. I know how important this day is to my clients, so I bring the energy, the love, the companionship, and the knowledge…and if I have to tap dance in the rain to keep spirits high, I will. That positivity is what helps keep anxieties low and excitement high, so couples can fully enjoy their day.
