Story & Lesson Highlights with Slaterria Hunter of Pompano Beach

Slaterria Hunter shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Slaterria, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are dedicated to prayer. I spend about 50–60 minutes in deep intimacy with the Lord—seeking His presence, asking for provision, praying for my family, friends, and healing in my home and business. Just sitting with Him fills me with peace and sets the tone for my entire day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey loves, it’s Slay, the owner of @BUNDLESOFSLAY 💕

This October 31st marks 8 years in business, and I’m beyond grateful for how far God has brought me and this brand. What started as a dream turned into a movement—a luxury hair brand built to help women feel confident, beautiful, and powerful in every stage of life.

This year, I went through a full rebrand, and it completely transformed not only my business but also my purpose. I realized that BUNDLES0FSLAY isn’t just about hair—it’s about healing, self-love, and empowerment. I’m passionate about supporting women through every season, helping them look and feel their best while walking in their God-given confidence.

To every woman who’s ever supported, shared, or believed in this brand—thank you. You are the reason I do what I do. Here’s to 8 years of growth, grace, and slay 💖

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a kid, I used to think my heart was too big—that caring so deeply wasn’t something a kid was supposed to do. But as I grew older, I realized that my heart was actually a part of my purpose—a gift from God. Now, I’m able to pour that same love and compassion into my business and into the people I serve. Realizing that has truly been such a blessing. 💕

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
One thing I’ve learned on my walk with God is that suffering is part of the Christian journey. It’s not meant to break us, it’s meant to build us. The Word says that suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope (Romans 5:3–4).

That same truth applies to business too. There are seasons when things don’t go as planned when it feels like all your hard work isn’t showing fruit yet. But it’s in those very seasons that God is strengthening your endurance, refining your heart, and preparing you for the blessing that’s coming.

I’ve learned not to run from suffering but to trust God through it, because it’s often the place where He shapes me the most both as a woman of faith and as a business owner. What felt like struggle was really training for success.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
God and then my family I don’t play about my people.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I really and truly feel like I’m doing what I’m called to do.
There’s such a deep peace that comes with walking in purpose — knowing that you’re right where God wants you to be. Every moment, every challenge, every blessing…it all makes sense when you’re aligned.
