Story & Lesson Highlights with Diana Perez

We recently had the chance to connect with Diana Perez and have shared our conversation below.

Diana, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
One of my biggest fears has always been crying in front of people. No one really knows how emotional I am because I always hold my tears back out of embarrassment. During this season of my life, I’ve been teaching in my church’s women’s ministry and there are so many women there that wear their hearts on their sleeves. I feel it’s important for me to do the same so that I can show up authentically and connect with every woman there. I’ve gotten much, much better, to the point of sobbing in our Bible class. Little by little I intend on being more open and building a strong and intimate bond with everyone.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Diana and I’m a writer. Practically all my life I’ve written songs and I’ve been on a long journey learning how to better my skills. I write to promote love, healing, and connection with other people. I’ve taken a short break from writing music to focus on writing my first novel. God-willing it’ll be published January, 2026. I’m extremely excited about this novel because I wrote it with the same three intentions in mind. I’m hoping it’ll make an impact and that a lot of healing will happen in people’s hearts, and within families and all kinds of relationships.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
The first time I felt like I could do absolutely anything was when I climbed my first mountain. Ultimate power is achieved when you combine mental, physical, and spiritual strength. I needed all three to reach the peak. There were many that were with me that chose not to go all the way to the top because getting to the peak was not going to be easy. But I pushed through and it was the best feeling in the world.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
All of the greatest lessons are learned through suffering. Through the pain of neglect, I’ve learned how to let go of resentment. Through the pain of rejection, I’ve learned to trust God more and know that He has great things in store for me. Through anxiety, I’ve learned how to give myself grace. Through all of the things I never got to have, I’ve learned all of the things that I want to give.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
God has the greatest character in the world. Even though He has the power to be a dictator, His very essence doesn’t allow Him to be. He gives us the freedom to choose Him or not. He forgives every day. He is patient and understanding. He wants nothing but the best for us like a real Father does. He is real love.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. I don’t do anything for praise. I don’t need it. What I want is to make a difference in people’s lives by my words and my love.
