We recently had the chance to connect with Maritza Golaub and have shared our conversation below.
Maritza, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yes! I recently moved to New York from Fort Lauderdale after passing one of the most challenging exams of my medical career, the USMLE Step 1. It was an incredibly demanding and mentally taxing process. Moving to a new city was intimidating and there were LOTS of tears involved, but one evening after a full day at clinicals, I sat on my balcony and took a moment to reflect. That’s when it truly sank in. I had made it through one of the hardest periods of my life, and I was finally seeing the rewards of my persistence and hard work!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Maritza Golaub, a third-year medical student, model, and content creator based in Miami and New York. I recently relocated to New York to begin my clinical rotations, and my journey has been about bridging two worlds that don’t often overlap: medicine and creative expression.
Through my platform, I strive to redefine what it means to be a medical student by promoting balance, wellness, and authenticity. I aim to show that you can pursue a demanding career in medicine while still nurturing your passions in fashion, fitness, and lifestyle. My goal is to inspire others, especially students, to prioritize their well-being and remember that healing others begins with healing yourself.
As a brand ambassador for several renowned companies such as Celsius and SavageXfenty, I share motivational content, attend events, and collaborate on projects that highlight lifestyle, fashion, and self-growth. From walking runways to working in the hospital, my story is about embracing every part of who you are and showing that success can be as multifaceted as the impact you make.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Aside from my parents, the relationships that have most shaped how I see myself is with my best friends from high school. They saw potential in me long before I recognized it in myself, always encouraging me to take photos, share my story, and step into my light. Their belief in me sparked a confidence that helped me grow not only as a creator, but as a woman learning to own her voice. Having friends who genuinely want to see you win is rare and powerful; they taught me the value of surrounding myself with people who celebrate my strengths, honor my boundaries, and inspire me to keep evolving.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
The lessons I’ve learned through failure have been far more meaningful than anything success could ever teach me. I’ve stumbled in exams, relationships, and moments of deep self-doubt — but those experiences built a strength in me that the “easy route” never could. Failure stripped away illusion and forced me to face myself honestly, to recognize my own patterns and take accountability for where I was. It taught me that resilience is forged in silence, in the moments when you have no choice but to keep going. Through it all, I’ve learned that growth is rarely graceful — it often comes from the chapters we once wished had gone differently.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I’d say the public version of myself is really an extension of who I am. There are parts of my life I choose to keep private, but what I share is still very real. I try to embody the woman | truly am – fun, ambitious, intelligent, and driven. My goal is to change the face of medicine and inspire women to pursue what they want unapologetically, while not being afraid to rewrite the narrative. Sometimes people still try to box me in as just a model or influencer, but at the end of the day, what I put out there genuinely reflects me.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace after prayer. It centers me and reminds me that everything happens in its own time. As for a physical place, definitely the beach! There’s something about being near the water that feels cleansing and tranquil. Like it washes away all my worries, as corny as that sounds. LOL The sound of the waves and the feeling of the sun on my skin bring me a kind of stillness I can’t find anywhere else. Other than that, I find peace in quiet moments, like journaling, cooking, or just sitting on my balcony listening to my favorite songs after a long day!
