We recently had the chance to connect with Jayne Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jayne, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
“Oh, definitely! The Hubs and I were helping our darling neighbor kids with one of those ‘easy’ kids’ bracelet kits — and let’s just say, it turned into a comedy show. Beads flying, instructions in another language, and all of us absolutely stumped! We laughed until our sides hurt. It was one of those sweet little reminders that life — like baking — doesn’t always go as planned, but laughter makes it all better.”
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
“I’m Jayne Jones, better known as America’s No Sugar Baker. A few years ago, after two life-threatening hospitalizations from diabetes complications, I changed my life overnight — no sugar, no nonsense, and definitely no giving up. Today, I run a national sugar-free dessert brand and movement that proves you can live joyfully, bake boldly, and still stay healthy. Our mission goes far beyond the kitchen — I work to educate families, hospitals, and schools about sugar-free living and advocate for better, medically tailored meals. Whether I’m in the kitchen, on stage, or visiting with fans, my goal is simple: to make healthy living taste amazing and to show that a second chance can be sweeter than sugar ever was.”
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
“Honestly, what breaks bonds is when we stop listening and start assuming. The world is loud, and it’s easy to forget that everyone’s fighting their own battles. What restores bonds? Laughter, forgiveness, and a good conversation over a plate of sugar-free cookies. Connection comes back when we put down our phones, look someone in the eye, and say, ‘I’m here. I care.’”
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
“I stopped hiding my pain when I realized God had a bigger plan for it. Twice, I was given a second chance at life. I could either stay quiet in shame or speak boldly in gratitude. I chose to turn my pain into purpose — to help others know they can rewrite their story too.”
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
“Yes — because the No Sugar Baker isn’t a character I play; it’s who I became after nearly losing everything. My faith, humor, and no-nonsense attitude are all part of the real me. I wholeheartedly believe in being authentic — what you see is what you get. I care way more about red lipstick than mascara, I love a good soap opera, and the Hubs and I never miss a Hallmark movie or a hockey game. I’m just a woman who’s been dealt quite a deck of cards from the good Lord — and I’ve learned to play that hand with gratitude, grit, and a good laugh along the way.”
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
“Oh dear Lord, I never imagined I’d be slinging cookies for a living! I laugh about it all the time with my best friend, who happens to be one of the nation’s top prosecutors. She’s using her law degree way more than I am—well, not really! I was never told what to do; I’ve just followed where purpose led me. And what an incredible journey it’s been. I may not be in a courtroom, but I’m still fighting a good fight—helping people live longer, healthier, and happier lives without sugar. Legacy is a hard question for a 51-year-old who’s survived a one-percent chance of survival—twice. Thanks to a lot of prayer, a little CPR, and a whole lot of grit, I’m here to make every day count.”
