We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jessica Torres. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Jessica, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’m most proud of the strength I’ve built that no one sees. Every day, I put myself out there knowing I might be overlooked, rejected, or misunderstood — yet I keep showing up. Behind the scenes, I’m constantly working on my confidence, nurturing my creativity, and building my brand piece by piece. From staying grounded in small daily moments to maintaining genuine relationships and protecting my reputation, I take pride in the quiet resilience it takes to keep going. In a world full of challenges and noise, I’m proud that I still choose to show up, create, and believe in what I’m building.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
As I step into year 7 of being licensed, I can’t help but reflect on where it all began — taking clients from my dorm room at Barry University and falling in love with making women feel beautiful and confident. I realized early on that I could do what I love and build something meaningful.
Since then, I’ve had the honor of working with incredible women, celebrities, and high-profile clients — known for my signature blowouts, bridal styling, and seamless extensions. From VIP house calls to on-set glam, every moment has shaped who I am as an artist and entrepreneur.
A special thank you to the women in my family for always believing in me and taking every idea seriously, and to my *dad* for keeping my imagination alive growing up — my little pink world turned into a real business as an adult.
From owning my own studio to creating my brand, it’s all a big deal for a girl from Hialeah. And now, I’m so excited to step into my next chapter — a full-service wedding glam experience offering bridal coordination, full hair and makeup teams, and floral design.
And yes… SOFLO Glam is officially back and thriving!
Here’s to growth, gratitude, and taking the beauty industry by storm — again.
Stay tuned for what’s next.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Just a girl born at Jackson Memorial Hospital in the heart of Miami-Dade, raised in a vibrant little town called Hialeah — where community felt like family, and everyone knew everyone. My parents worked day in and day out to provide, and in between those long days, my neighborhood, my people, and my culture helped raise me.
From a young age, I was drawn to the stage — performing, cheer, and dance filled my world with movement and color. But even more than being in the spotlight, I was fascinated by what happened *behind* it — the visuals, the coordination, the transformation, the magic of turning an idea into an experience. That’s where my passion for beauty and creativity truly began.
At my core, I’ve always been a jokester — the one laughing through the chaos, finding humor in the hard parts, and turning pain into perspective. A natural social butterfly, I love connecting with people, making everyone feel seen, and offering a different outlook on life.
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was simply me — curious, bold, imaginative, and full of heart. And in so many ways, that’s still exactly who I am.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes — absolutely. The industry I work in can feel so oversaturated at times. Influence, content, and trends often seem to overshadow true talent. It can be discouraging going up against people who are in it for the money and the views, while you’re pouring your heart into your craft.
There were moments I thought maybe I should take a safer route — tried to settle into a 9–5, convincing myself that stability meant success. But every time, God stepped in and pulled me right back out. Even when I had no plan, He provided — through my hands, my gift, and my business.
I’ve learned that my true ministry is hair. It’s where I connect, pour into others, and remind women of their beauty and worth. I’ve never been left empty depending on Him — and that’s what keeps me grounded, even when the world feels loud.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Without a doubt — my family. Especially my niece and nephew, who completely changed the way I see the world.
When my niece was born on September 21, 2021, everything shifted. Knowing I’m a role model to someone so pure and full of potential pushes me to carry myself with intention — to never let her down or distort how she sees me. She inspires me in ways I can’t even explain.
Then my nephew came along last year in December, and once again my heart expanded. He’s taught me the importance of allowing boys to have a voice, to feel deeply, and to be understood.
I love them both endlessly. They remind me to stay grounded, to keep showing up, and to build something they can be proud of. At the end of the day, family is truly what matters most
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Without a doubt — my authenticity and true passion.
I think my clients would miss the genuine energy I bring to every appointment — the real conversations, the laughter, and the care behind every style. For me, it’s never just about hair; it’s about connection, trust, and making people feel seen and beautiful in their own skin.
That’s what keeps them coming back — not just the look, but the love behind it.
