Story & Lesson Highlights with Nandie Wilmot of Pembroke pines

We recently had the chance to connect with Nandie Wilmot and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nandie, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me starts bright and early at 5 a.m. I take our dog Momo for a walk, feed her, then get myself ready for work. Once I’m done, it’s time to wake up my husband and our three little ones. There are no gender roles in our home , my husband and I tag-team breakfast and getting the kids ready for school. After that, I head off to work as the Director of Reservations Sales at The St. Regis Bal Harbour. Once my day wraps up, I pick up the kids, help with homework, and we all settle in for dinner. In the evenings, I take a 45-minute walk with Momo while the kids ride their bikes around the community. We always end our day with a little Bible reading, family prayer, and lights out by 9 p.m.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
A proud wife, mom of three, and the Director of Reservations Sales at The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort. My journey with Marriott spans nearly two decades, starting at the Customer Engagement Center and growing through leadership roles that taught me the value of connection, precision, and true hospitality.

What makes my story special is my passion for people both guests and teams. I take pride in creating seamless experiences for travelers from around the world while mentoring the next generation of hospitality professionals. My work combines strategy and heart whether it’s optimizing group bookings, building sales processes, or ensuring every guest interaction reflects the St. Regis legacy of excellence.

Outside of work, quality family time, and faith at the center of everything I do. Right now, I’m focused on growing into higher leadership roles within the industry and continuing to inspire women in hospitality to lead with both strength and grace.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What breaks the bonds between people is often the loss of honesty, transparency, and loyalty the very foundation of trust. When those values fade, relationships start to fracture, no matter how strong they once were. I believe in giving those three things fully to everyone in my life, and I expect the same in return.

Restoring those bonds isn’t easy it takes time, humility, and a genuine willingness to rebuild. It requires open conversations, patience, and consistent actions that show change, not just words. Healing relationships means choosing to understand rather than blame, and being intentional about creating new trust where the old one was lost.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
It taught me resilience the kind that doesn’t come from winning, but from standing back up when everything feels heavy. It reminded me to rely on faith, to find peace in prayer, and to keep going even when I can’t see the full picture. Pain has a way of humbling you, grounding you, and reminding you of what truly matters family, love, character, and purpose.

While success celebrates the outcome, suffering shapes the person. It builds empathy, patience, and gratitude. It showed me that strength isn’t about never breaking it’s about learning how to rebuild with grace and still have love in your heart.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is real but it’s the polished version. It’s the woman who shows up strong, composed, and confident, even when life feels chaotic behind the scenes. I don’t fake who I am, but I do protect certain parts of myself. The real me is layered I’m a wife, a mom, a leader, a believer, and an overthinker who feels deeply and gives her all.

What people see publicly is the result of years of hard work, faith, and perseverance. But the private version of me is softer she’s the one who prays through her worries, questions herself sometimes, but always gets back up with grace. Both versions are me one just wears heels and lipstick, and the other wears her heart on her sleeve.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What light inside you have you been dimming?
The light I’ve been dimming is my own confidence that bold, fearless part of me that used to dream without limits. Over the years, between responsibilities, motherhood, and the pressure to stay strong, I’ve sometimes quieted my voice to keep the peace or to fit into spaces that weren’t meant to hold my full light.

But lately, I’ve been learning to let that light shine again to speak up, to take up space, to celebrate my growth without guilt. My light is faith, resilience, and purpose. And I’m no longer shrinking it for anyone’s comfort. God didn’t give me this spirit to hide it He gave it to me to lead, to inspire, and to remind others that they can glow through anything.
