Story & Lesson Highlights with Olivia McFarlane of Fort Lauderdale

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Olivia McFarlane. Check out our conversation below.

Olivia, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I believe many individuals are quietly battling the exhausting distance between who they are and who they believe they must be. From an early age, we are conditioned to perform, to curate an identity that appears competent, stable, and successful. Over time, that performance becomes a cage, eroding integrity and disconnecting us from joy. The result is a quiet epidemic of burnout and shame, fueled by the painful awareness that we are not being seen for our genuine selves. My work through Dirty Vibez Co. and The Wellnest Collective is about dismantling that performance and creating spaces where unfiltered presence matters more than polished perception.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Olivia McFarlane, and I am an adaptive wellness coach and entrepreneur originally from Mandeville, Jamaica. My life’s purpose has always been rooted in two forces: my faith in God and my role as guardian to my sister, Tyler, who lives with Rett Syndrome, a rare, severe neurodevelopmental disorder that primarily affects girls, causing a regression of acquired communication and motor skills and the development of distinctive hand movements.
Tyler’s journey has been my greatest teacher. She showed me that strength can be silent and that resilience can be soft yet unshakable. Through her, I found divine purpose: to live with intention, compassion, and authenticity.
That purpose now takes two forms. Dirty Vibez Co. is my unapologetic streetwear and lifestyle brand that celebrates raw authenticity, while The Wellnest Collective is my forthcoming inclusive wellness platform for caregivers, families, and individuals with disabilities.
Though they exist in very different worlds, both are guided by the same mission. I want people to feel seen, supported, and accepted in their truth.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child growing up in Jamaica, I held two powerful beliefs. The first was certain: I believed I was meant to help people, most likely through medicine. The second was a quiet fear that I might not be capable of loving or caring for someone with a significant disability. Looking back, that fear came from a child’s limited understanding of what love and compassion truly mean.
Life, in its divine way, shattered and redefined both beliefs. My sister, Tyler, who lives with Rett Syndrome, became my most profound guide. Through her nonverbal world, I discovered that love and healing extend far beyond words or medicine. Presence itself can be transformative.
The focus of my life shifted from the ambition of healing the body to the deeper calling of nurturing the soul. I left the vision of hospital walls behind, choosing instead to create spaces that remind people of their inherent worth, even when they feel broken. My career moved intentionally away from traditional medicine toward a new standard of success, one defined not by prestige but by the tangible impact of helping even one person. It is an impact I now pursue through the unfiltered ethos of Dirty Vibez Co. and the restorative refuge of The Wellnest Collective.
The ability to love selflessly and practice patience has become my greatest teacher and the truest blessing of my life.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh yes! I have experienced seasons, not just moments, when surrender felt very close. The weight of caregiving, the uncertainty of entrepreneurship, and the emotional toll of healing can at times feel overwhelming. There were nights when exhaustion blurred my faith and I questioned my strength.
But Tyler anchors me. Watching her navigate life with such grace redefines what resilience truly means. She reminds me that surrender is not failure but a sacred pause – a breath before the next climb.
When I feel overwhelmed and burdened, I return to prayer. Keeping faith reframes everything. It reminds me that hardship is not punishment but preparation. God does not waste pain; He uses it to build strength, humility, and endurance.
These lessons form the foundation of both Dirty Vibez Co. and The Wellnest Collective. True purpose is not sustained by perfection. It is sustained by persistence, humility, and divine timing.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe that everything, every hardship, delay, or detour, unfolds exactly as it is meant to. Life has shown me again and again that what appears as chaos is often divine choreography. The moments that once felt like endings were actually sacred redirections. God’s design is flawless, even when it looks like failure from our limited perspective.
There have been seasons where I felt buried beneath uncertainty, only to later realize I had been planted. The pain that once broke me became the soil for growth, humility, and transformation. Each challenge carries a hidden assignment: to strip away what no longer serves and make space for deeper faith.
I have learned that faith is not the absence of fear or doubt, it is the decision to trust when logic collapses. It is choosing to believe that there is purpose in every delay and that what is meant for me cannot be taken or missed. Faith is the quiet assurance that God is always working, even when the path is unclear and the light feels far away.
So while I cannot prove it, I know it to be true in every fiber of my being: purpose always reveals itself, even in the dark.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. True purpose is not fueled by applause but anchored in conviction.
Much of my most meaningful work happens unseen: the daily rhythm of caregiving, the creative labor behind a brand, the silent effort that rarely receives recognition. I have learned that integrity is defined by what you give when no one is watching.
Dirty Vibez Co. is built on authenticity. The Wellnest Collective is built on sincerity. Praise is fleeting, but purpose endures. Whether my work is witnessed by thousands or remains private, my responsibility is the same. I must serve with excellence, humility, and heart, because the integrity of the soul outweighs the clamor of the crowd.
