We recently had the chance to connect with Niki By and have shared our conversation below.
Niki, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
Our Clients learned me that there is never two the same let’s say Couple Photo Sessions. Everyone has different needs, and expects individual approach to every single photo session. That is why I always offer Video Calls where both sides may gather all details and information in order to plan each photo session from location to colour of outfits etc.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I created By Niki Photography Team at the beginning of 2016 with first photography base in Houston, Texas few months later I added Miami, Florida as a second town, because of it’s unique art deco look and great weather all year round perfect for outdoor photo sessions.
Things changed through years and Miami is our main photography hub.
However last year I also added my dreamed location in Hawaii, Honolulu !
Thanks to professional photographers working in our Team, we are always available.
I am beyond grateful for each of them.
We are mainly serving Clients from whole nation but also from Canada or Europe.
We specialize in Couples, Family, Surprisal Engagements and Weddings but also popular are photo sessions for Dating Apps or Social Media Content.
Myself as a leading photographer and the only editor/retoucher in By Niki Photography Team I help our Clients to achieve perfect pictures.
Sometimes I slim down/lift body parts or remove strangers from the background of photographs.
When I stand behind camera I like to play around with cool features, create wall artwork ready to print or when in studio alone, I love to work on new collections with my own head off. Also I am addicted to photo animations/gifs. Most current work you can see on Instagram, the girl in a pink suit.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Few years ago I bumped into a short video somewhere on social media. In it seniors were asked about best memories of their lives, moments they wish to come back even for a while. I realised that all we have is NOW. That is why now I enjoy every little moments happened to me daily. It is like wearing pink sunglasses.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Everything you want it is already yours! Just trust the process.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That Photographers can edit pictures while sitting in a full sun with laptop on the beach. I need a proper desk for laptop and graphic pen tablet together with minimum day light coming into the space.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
When I am able to deliver all edited Collections to our Clients weeks before deadlines. As the only retoucher in By Niki Photography Team this is something that may stress me the most, however even in the most intense seasons I try to organise myself and make sure to deliver way before deadlines.
