Lissette Rondon of Miami & Pembroke Pines on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lissette Rondon. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Lissette, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
There are two things I’ve built that make me deeply proud.

The first is my marriage. My husband and I just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary and 21 years together — and it truly feels like the most amazing story. Marriage requires qualities that not everyone understands or manages to find: communication, patience, tolerance, and the ability to accept your partner for who they are.

My other great accomplishment is my company and online magazine, Miami Fashion Spotlight. It has demanded everything from both of us — time, dedication, and persistence. Since 2011, we’ve poured our hearts into it, and even now, we continue giving the best of ourselves.

What many people don’t see is the work behind all those years — the long nights, the faith, and the teamwork. Our marriage has actually grown stronger because of this shared dream. We made a promise to never give up, no matter the challenges. In a way, our journey feels almost poetic — how my husband is always there for me, both in my professional life with Miami Fashion Spotlight and in my personal moments when I need guidance or strength.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the Founder and President of Miami Fashion Spotlight, an award-winning online magazine and media platform dedicated to highlighting the best of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle in Miami and beyond. In my role, I oversee collaborations, partnerships, and client features, always seeking meaningful opportunities that bring visibility to brands and creatives. I also manage event productions and special printed editions of our magazine, blending digital storytelling with real-life experiences.

As the Editorial Director, I define the voice and narrative of our publication — from exclusive designer interviews to international fashion week coverage. Every story we publish is crafted with purpose, celebrating creativity, authenticity, and style.

My journey began in 2011, after years working as Miami’s Celebrity Fashion Examiner for the national platform Examiner.com. With that experience and network, I decided to create something of my own — starting with a fashion blog that grew organically into a full-fledged magazine with both online and printed editions.

Today, Miami Fashion Spotlight has become a powerful bilingual platform that promotes what’s happening in Miami’s fashion scene — supporting local designers, stylists, and entrepreneurs — while also keeping our readers informed about the latest trends and events in the world’s top fashion capitals.

What makes our brand unique is our genuine passion for storytelling and our dedication to building bridges between cultures, languages, and creative communities. At Miami Fashion Spotlight, fashion isn’t just about style — it’s about connection, inspiration, and celebrating those who dare to dream big.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was a model and a TV and radio host in Venezuela. I used to produce fashion shows for my own television series — creating the kind of glamour and excitement that first made me fall in love with the industry.

When I came to Miami, I was chasing a dream. I worked as a model for Sábado Gigante and later launched my own swimwear line, opening a boutique on Washington Avenue in South Beach. At that time, I didn’t have the network or experience I have today, but those early years were full of lessons. I learned through trial and error, and every challenge helped shape the woman and professional I’ve become.

Looking back, I realize that every version of me — the model, the host, the entrepreneur — was preparing me for what I do today with Miami Fashion Spotlight. It all led me to build a platform where I can empower others to shine, just as I once dreamed for myself.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I think all of us, at some point, feel like giving up. In my case, I almost did when I had to close my store on Washington Avenue. We had at least four hurricanes that forced me to shut down repeatedly, and as time passed, we couldn’t recover. The rent was high, and I had invested all my savings there. It was hard to accept — I had put my heart into that store.

But I’m not someone who gives up easily. I believe in the power of the universe and that everything happens for a reason. What I once thought was a failure turned out to be a redirection — a lesson that guided me toward my true path.

The key isn’t about never falling — it’s about always getting back up. That’s one of my greatest strengths: I always come back… like a terminator, as I like to say with a smile.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
I don’t think anyone is ever completely themselves in public. We all tend to create a version of ourselves — a character that helps us survive and navigate the world. But I can say I try to stay as close to my true self as possible.

The truth is, I value my privacy deeply. I protect my marriage, my home, and even my success from what’s out there. Even though my work depends heavily on social media, I’ve learned to draw a clear line between my professional life and my personal one.

So yes, the public version of me is real — it’s just the part I choose to share. It’s the version that works hard, leads with passion, and never stops pursuing growth. But the rest — the quiet moments, the love, and the private victories — I keep close to my heart.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
When I look back, I can clearly see a theme that has always guided me — fashion and creation. I truly believe I was born to create, not only in fashion or communication, but in everything that involves imagination and transformation. Creativity is my gift. I love change, challenges, and the process of turning something ordinary — or even “ugly” — into something beautiful and inspiring.

Producing events with originality, where ideas evolve into meaningful visions and images that stay in people’s minds, is one of my greatest joys. Along the way, I also discovered my talent for promoting others. There’s something priceless about being part of someone else’s success — and I genuinely love working behind the scenes, even when that means carrying the full responsibility of an event.

So yes, every time I’m creating, producing, or helping others shine, I’m doing what I was born to do. But in some way, I’m also doing what I’m told to do — because success often means working with others, understanding their visions, and bringing them to life. The difference is that I always add my own creative touch. I can’t help it; that’s just who I am.
