Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucena Dussin.
Hi Lucena, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a Brazilian architect and interior designer with more than 25 years of experience designing distinctive spaces that blend functionality, elegance, and emotion. My professional path began in Brazil, where I founded my own design studio and built a reputation for my refined aesthetic and passion for detail.
In 2010, my career took an international turn when I moved to Dubai, a place that broadened my creative vision and introduced me to diverse architectural styles and cultural influences. Five years later, I was invited to work for an American company in Los Angeles under an O-1 Visa, granted to professionals with extraordinary abilities. During the seven and a half years I lived in California, I had the opportunity to design exclusive residences, each project reflecting a balance between creativity, comfort, and identity.
Now based in Florida, I lead my own design practice, working on projects and consulting across the United States, Brazil and abroad. My work is deeply rooted in understanding people — their needs, dreams, and daily lives — and transforming that understanding into timeless spaces. What inspires me most is seeing clients return with new ideas and the trust that we will once again create something meaningful together.
Beyond my professional journey, travel and curiosity have always shaped who I am. A year after graduating, I went backpacking through Europe and Israel with three friends, traveling on a small budget and staying in youth hostels. That experience opened my eyes to the world and sparked my passion for languages and cultural exchange. When I returned to Brazil, I dedicated myself to learning English, then perfected my Italian and studied Spanish and French.
These experiences taught me that stepping into the unknown is one of life’s greatest adventures. Every country I’ve lived in, every culture I’ve embraced, and every project I’ve created has shaped the designer — and the person — I am today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes, my journey has involved many challenges. After years of building my career in Brazil, I moved to Dubai — a place with a completely different culture, rhythm, and approach to design. Adapting to a new environment pushed me to see architecture through a broader, more global perspective. Since 2015, I’ve been living in the United States, where I once again had to reinvent myself. Beyond the cultural differences, I faced new systems, from units of measurement to construction methods, all very different from what I knew in Brazil. Yet, each challenge became an opportunity to grow, to learn, and to refine not only my professional skills but also my understanding of how design connects people around the world.

I lead an Interior Design studio specializing in residential and commercial projects, where each concept is tailored to reflect the identity and lifestyle of my clients. My international experience allows me to combine global design influences with a refined sense of functionality and elegance. I work closely with each client to understand how they live and interact with their environment — creating spaces that are not only visually striking but also deeply personal, comfortable, and timeless. From modern residences to boutique commercial spaces, my goal is to deliver distinctive designs that enhance daily life and leave a lasting impression.
